Shylily's Comprehensive Aniimo Review

The RV zone features designated seating, yet the inability to sit at a campfire is a design oversight that Shylily calls a 'crime'.

Many sitting areas exist within the RV zone, yet the campfire lacks this basic interaction, creating a disconnect in player immersion.

Shylily adheres to a 'bare minimum' philosophy for base building to avoid constant renovation as technology tiers advance.

Extensive grinding for visual perfection in-game can be monotonous for viewers, which detracts from the entertainment value of the stream.

For her, content creation involves a necessary compromise between her personal playstyle and ensuring a compelling and engaging experience for her audience.

Advanced tools will likely streamline resource gathering, as Shylily expects to eventually clear entire forests with minimal effort. With a new tier of axe unlocked, she predicts that end-game efficiency will allow for much faster tree harvesting.

She suggested that in the end-game phase, she might be mowing down entire forests, and jokingly questioned whether she would even need wood anymore or if her walls would be made of stone, emphasizing the progression she expects to experience.

To maintain her health regimen until TwitchCon, Shylily intends to resist all cheat meals before indulging during the convention.

She declared her intention to freely consume whatever she desires at the event, irrespective of nutritional value, expressing frustration with societal pressures to choose healthy options.

Dedicated to her personal regimen, the streamer has avoided all cheat meals for nearly ten months.

Finding an area without cameras is nearly impossible because everyone at the event is broadcasting.

She mentioned that she does not want to take her mask off unless she is hidden and stashed away, highlighting the constant presence of cameras being shoved into people's faces by IRL streamers.

The cycle of replacing forbidden terms with synonyms like 'mouth breather' or 'milk drinker' proves that censorship filters fail to curb the original intent behind an insult.

She cited examples like 'mouth breather' or 'milk drinker' being used as replacements for 'idiot', demonstrating that the underlying intent of the insult remains unchanged.

This dynamic, she argues, renders censorship ineffective as it merely shifts the vocabulary rather than altering the core message of verbal aggression.

Shylily asserted that intentionally swatting someone should be legally classified and treated as attempted murder due to its severe, life-threatening nature.

She conveyed deep frustration with the current legal consequences, which she believes are insufficient given the extreme dangers involved in such incidents.

Swatting frequently results in fatalities, elevating it far beyond typical online harassment into a serious criminal act.

Many fail to grasp the gravity of swatting as a life-threatening event.

Shylily praised the game's foundation, stating that the developers have done a lot of things right, including the animal designs, animations, and the homestead feature, which she feels they 'low-key nailed.'

However, she expressed doubt about whether the game currently has what it takes for long-term engagement without further changes. She pointed out that while the foundation is solid, the game feels 'a little shaky' or 'wobbly' and needs more content to keep its success rolling.

She suggested that the developers should prioritize quality-of-life improvements and fine-tuning. The current cash shop lacks options for a free-to-play game, and expanding it with cosmetics could better encourage player spending.

She suggested that the game should heavily focus on cosmetic items for revenue generation, particularly for a free-to-play title, to ensure sustainable growth without alienating players.

A surprising lack of cosmetics at launch represents a missed opportunity to capitalize on the game's initial success.

The game currently lacks essential social structures like guilds and clans, and the 30-person limit for group chats is a significant drawback.

The streamer criticized the inability to progress together with friends and the absence of meaningful world interaction, contrasting it unfavorably with games like Final Fantasy 14 and Wuthering Waves.

She concluded that Aniimo was oversold as an online game, lacking the necessary features to truly capitalize on its multiplayer potential.

Shylily expressed concern that promised features in games often arrive “too little too late,” leading to player churn as content dries up within a week or two.

She pointed out the intense competition from other creature-collection games, such as Palworld and Pokémon, which players might migrate to if Aniimo fails to deliver timely updates.

Shylily characterized the game's user interface as "menu soup" or a "manual labyrinth," noting that every keybind leads to a different menu, which then branches into multiple sub-menus.

She highlighted that even veteran players struggle with navigation, often requiring a moment to recall the location of specific functions due to their nested structure.

The streamer described the experience as a "modern-day torture method," implying that such design complexity detracts from the experience.

Compressed by what Shylily likens to a shrink gun, a brownie crams the flavor of an entire chocolate cake into a small bite that she finds too rich to consume past the second piece.

Brownies are best suited for large gatherings, as Shylily finds she loses interest after eating just one.

Shylily affirmed that children are a blessing, but she would prefer not to receive that particular blessing herself, indicating she has met her "blessing quota" for this life.

She admitted to being "scarred" by past experiences with children, citing an incident where a child wiped boogers across their face and then touched an iPad without cleaning their hands.

Despite humorously stating she would be a "fantastic banger of a mom" hypothetically, she maintained that she simply does not want the responsibility, emphasizing a lack of desire.

Shylily also dismissed the idea of adoption, stating she has no desire to adopt.

She expressed a strong dislike for the common trend in games, particularly Pokémon, where many creatures' evolutions force them into bipedal forms, losing their original quadrupedal charm.

Shylily mentioned Meowscarada from Pokémon as a rare exception, a bipedal evolution she finds cool, but stressed that such designs should not be overdone.

Shylily highlighted her preference for Palworld's system, where she can find a cool Pal and it retains its original form.

She noted that in other creature-collection games, players often feel compelled to evolve creatures immediately for viability, even if they prefer the original design.

The streamer expressed that evolving creatures should not come at the cost of losing their unique character identity, a design choice she appreciates in Palworld.

She voiced frustration with the current system, which requires players to add friends to visit their RV or hang out, making social interactions cumbersome.

The streamer noted that the game's online experience feels less focused on spontaneous social interaction than its marketing implied, wishing for a more accessible online environment.

Shylily compared Aniimo's homestead management and factory-like mechanics to titles such as Palworld and Endfield, noting that Aniimo presents an easier but conceptually similar experience.

She observed that the game's AI is intelligent, queuing tasks effectively rather than having animals repeat a single chore indefinitely.

Animals prioritize tasks, and she observed that higher-level animals tend to self-assign themselves to available roles, replacing lower-level ones.

Despite the game's primary focus not being on base management, Shylily expressed high satisfaction with the automation's efficiency and AI, finding it impressively smooth.

Shylily initially struggled to understand Aniimo's nurturing system, attempting to use free daily nurture attempts before the daily reset without apparent effect.

She discovered, coincidentally, that nurturing could be done remotely via the map, applying to different ecosystem branches, which she had not realized previously.

This remote nurturing coincided with a new animal spawn during a thunderstorm, and her first encounter with a thunderstorm-spawning animal caused genuine excitement and a desire to catch it.

The streamer successfully caught the unique creature, expressing her joy and noting that she thinks nurturing might influence extra spawns.

She also experimented with releasing excess animals, finding that doing so provides valuable XP items for her remaining creatures.

The streamer considered keeping only high-quality specimens and releasing the rest to manage inventory space.

She quickly realized that her current movement capabilities felt insufficient for some of the parkour obstacles, making precise jumps and movements difficult.

Shylily identified an enemy as a water type, noting that water enemies are weak to ice, electro, and plant elements.

She utilized a team composition focused on energy management and stamina for shields, breaking the enemy's stance before switching characters to deal massive damage.

The player interacted with characters named 'Siz' and 'Shelly', learning that 'Siz' creatures were stealing shells from other 'Shellys' along the shore.

The narrative revealed that shadow-like entities disappeared after a boss was defeated, leading to a new objective.

The quest's goal was to patrol the beach at night to find the missing shiny shells that were stolen.

She experimented with transformation mechanics, matching the species of the target, and successfully completed the task with three seconds remaining.

Shylily explained that her team's strength lies in breaking the enemy's shield, then switching to a sword-wielder to maximize damage during the 'broken' state.

Energy management was highlighted as the primary constraint, and rotating between characters like Lunara helped reset cooldowns and regenerate energy.

She expressed surprise when the quest progressed faster than anticipated, ultimately leading to the reward of an 'alpha shelly egg' after the evolution.

Shylily dismissed viewer claims that the creature encountered was a new shiny variant, clarifying it was the same evolved shiny Shelly from the story, maintaining its appearance.

She noted that the creature shared identical attack patterns, only observing slight differences in its turn radius.

Shylily analyzed the game's economy, speculating on the 'Glimmer' currency and listing multiple ways to earn items for free, including daily quests, defeating alphas, and completing courses.

She acknowledged the existence of first-time top-up bonuses and limited store purchases as additional methods to acquire resources.

Shylily expressed surprise at the high damage output of her current character setup, labeling the combination she discovered as 'insane' for breaking enemy defenses.

She attributed her combat efficiency to the effective combination she discovered while playing.

She highlighted that the quest resonated deeply, even without voice acting, due to its effective thematic execution.

Shylily conveyed that the game possesses substantial potential, though it does not yet feel entirely complete.

She observed that the dedication of the developers is clear, indicating that much of the project is a labor of love.

The streamer expressed a strong hope that the studio will sustain its development momentum and not fail to capitalize on the game's promise.

Shylily explained that elemental advantage dramatically increases 'break damage' in combat, making it a critical factor in engagements.

Her strategy involves using Punpata to absorb damage and initiate breaks, subsequently switching to other units like Lunara or Glaciera for follow-up attacks.

Lunara serves as a support unit, generating energy through blade attacks to set up a powerful finishing blow once the enemy is stunned.

The 'hustle' mechanic increases an animal's movement speed, enabling it to traverse terrain that would otherwise be inaccessible.

Shylily initially found it challenging to activate the ability effectively during a timed course, leading to a disappointing performance.

She expressed a strong desire to retry the course to properly utilize the mechanic.

To evolve a mantis-like creature, players must defeat three 'wispers' of the same form in quick succession.

Shylily found this task more time-consuming than difficult, primarily due to the need for stealthily approaching targets.

She raised questions about the strictness of the 'succession' requirement for triggering the evolution.

Upon evolving into Ignitus, new abilities such as Fire Dash, Dark Dash, Scythe Dance, and Forest Whirl became available.

The 'Dark Soul' ability allows the player to teleport to a target and offers a free recast if the target has low HP.

Shylily noted the significant visual and practical impact of these new skills during combat encounters.

Upon encountering a Dark-typed Alpha creature, Shylily had to consider wind-based counter-attacks.

However, she noted a lack of effective wind skills in her current team setup, limiting her tactical options.

The encounter was complicated by the creature's ability to create clones, making it difficult to identify the real target and interrupt its attacks.

The ability description notes that it slams all targets affected by a fire debuff from a distance and restores EP for each stack of the fire debuff. Shylily reacted to the description by noting it seemed effective, specifically mentioning a potential sequence of moves like 'ring and then you do this.'

She expressed a positive outlook on the ability's performance, remarking that it would 'go hard' in a bloom encounter.

Shylily attempted to challenge a Level 45 opponent, noting that the opponent was far outleveling her team.

During the fight, the opponent utilized a 'petal storm' attack. Shylily described the experience as getting her 'ass whooped' and observed that the opponent's team was significantly stronger.

Following her defeat, she stated that she would rechallenge the opponent once she 'matches her freak.'

The streamer's goal is to integrate the legendary lion into her team to enhance her combat capabilities.

Shylily expressed frustration with NPCs delivering excessive backstory immediately upon introduction, stating, 'I just met the NPC. You cannot I don't care for you. I don't know who you are. I don't care for your sappy life story.'

She argued that emotional reliance needs to be established through character development before players would care about what an NPC has to say, summarizing her preference as 'More show, less tell, baby.'

Oh, not the quiz again. Leave me alone. Don't quiz me.'

The streamer showed frustration with the repetitive nature of these knowledge assessments during her progression.

Shylily examined the 'animal capability awakening' system, reading the mechanics aloud as she encountered them. She noted the description regarding 'potential attribute gains' and remarked, 'Attack obviously,' while reviewing the interface options.

She also observed constraints within the game, noting that animals above level 60 cannot be reset.

Shylily chose to acquire Blazing over Magarex, stating that she picked Blazing because 'He looks so [ __ ] good.'

Upon acquiring the creature, she tested its abilities and discovered unique movement features, noting, 'He can climb. No way. Oh my, that's so cool. I can use this to lift off.'

She subsequently raised the creature's level to 45 and increased its stars.

Shylily encountered a trainer at level 41. She remarked on the team composition, stating, 'He has just a bunch of nimbies.'

She struggled with the encounter, specifically noting the strength of the opponent's shield, which she described as a 'massive' amount of HP.

The lore suggests that the distinctive ridgeback trees in the area were formed from the backbones of powerful, fallen legends, adding a layer of narrative depth to the environment.

She found her fire-type team ineffective against the opponent's defensive setup and ability usage, leading to significant struggle in combat and concern over potentially losing her Blazing unit.

Shylily experimented with a combat strategy involving environmental hazards, specifically using fire effects to damage enemies.

She discovered that simply standing next to opponents in certain areas caused them to burn, providing an unexpectedly effective method of dealing damage.

The streamer admitted that the tactic worked 'a little bit too well,' indicating its potent impact on battles.

Shylily encountered an opponent fielding a team composed of three sand-type creatures, presenting a significant challenge.

She noted that her current water and grass team was under-leveled and lacked adequate investment, making it difficult to counter the opponent's composition.

The streamer discovered that the sand castle unit was primarily a defensive tank rather than a damage-per-second (DPS) unit, which made it exceptionally difficult to defeat due to its high survivability.

Shylily reviewed the ability descriptions of her water-type companion, particularly focusing on 'flowing water slash' and its interaction with the environment.

She explored how puddles affected combat abilities, noting that slashes dealing additional damage equal to 30% of M were empowered into water blades when near a water environment.

Based on her understanding of these synergies, Shylily decided to challenge the opponent again to observe the differences in combat.

Shylily criticized the 'fragrance collection' quest, arguing its placement in the game's timeline was poorly misplaced and too long.

She highlighted that this quest immediately followed a vision where a lion was kidnapped, creating a jarring shift in urgency.

The streamer noted that the quest took approximately three hours, which felt like a distraction from the main plot.

While acknowledging the story's overall quality, Shylily emphasized that its timing and pacing were problematic, suggesting it would have been better suited as a side story.

The streamer decided to test the game's Japanese audio to compare it with the English version, noting she typically has issues with the 'breathy' voice acting direction in English.

She admitted the difficulty in accurately judging the quality of Japanese voice acting as a non-speaker, acknowledging that cultural differences might influence speech patterns.

Despite the language barrier, Shylily expressed satisfaction with the performance of specific characters, particularly Lunara, in the Japanese dub. She noted that while the 'breathy' issue might be present, it feels different to her ears, leading her to question if it's a common style in Japanese dialogue.

Shylily voiced her frustration regarding the challenges of playing World of Warcraft with international friends, noting the difficulty of managing characters on both European and American servers.

She stated that developers should just make a data center for like all regions so there would be no ping at all.

The streamer described the struggle of having international friends and living far apart, noting that it is hard to coordinate with different time zones.

She highlighted that she doesn't have time to play on both European and American servers, noting that playing on both is a time sync.

She specifically mentioned a desire to dedicate more time to these puzzles, indicating a high level of satisfaction with this aspect of the game.

The streamer reacted to an aggressive NPC perfumer character in the game, expressing her dismay at its combat prowess.

She humorously concluded that if presented with a choice between a perfumer and a bear in a forest, she would opt for the bear.

This segment underscored Shylily's reaction to the game's creature and character mechanics, highlighting a preference for natural, albeit dangerous, wildlife over certain in-game adversaries.

Shylily lauded the current game as 'awesome' and highlighted its free-to-play nature as a significant advantage for players.

She identified a common issue in creature-collection games: a sense of wondering what to do once all creatures are collected, noting that the loop becomes catching the same things again.

The streamer emphasized that for her, the 'journey' of discovery and collection is the most enjoyable aspect of these games, rather than the end-game completion.

Shylily observed that she was a little too low level to be exploring the zone right now, noting she had too low HP. She decided she should go rush to the main quest.

While traveling, she encountered an 'incredible egg'. She also noted that there were lots of puzzles over there, but she was really close to her main quest.

Later, she prepared for a duel, noting that everything was level 45, and expressed uncertainty about her readiness for the encounter, saying she would just go with her current team and hope it works.

After receiving input from the chat, she stated that she had been convinced.

Ultimately, Shylily decided to use the sparkling cube, noting that the Prismanana looks very good with the sparkling effect.

Shylily discovered the extensive variety of 'sparkling' animal variants within the game, noting there are 10 standard sparkling variations, in addition to dazzling and shadow versions.

She humorously remarked that the game seemed designed to be a 'collector's dream/nightmare.'

She stated that she wants to catch every animal once to ensure she has them all, and then she will see how things go from there regarding the rare color variants.
