US-Led Coalition Withdraws From Iraq

The coalition's mission, which began in 2014 to defeat the extremist group Islamic State (IS), has transitioned from combat to training and supporting Iraqi forces, and an official key handover ceremony for the bases occupied by the coalition is scheduled.

While Baghdad authorities are formulating a strategy to gradually replace the air defense network over the next three years, concerns are being raised about a potential security vacuum created by the withdrawal of the international coalition.

This was an agreement reached through a coordination framework before Iraqi Prime Minister Al-Sudani's UN visit, with most factions agreeing, though negotiations are ongoing with some dissenting factions.
