North Pointe Community Church Celebrates Growth, Emphasizes Healing, and Warns Against Superficial Faith

The call emphasized physical participation as a crucial aspect of worship, encouraging attendees to put their hands together and vocalize their praise. This collective act of singing and physical expression was presented as a fundamental way to honor God.

"Come on, let's stand up. Let's give God some praise this morning. Come on, put your hands together." The worship leader's invitation highlighted the importance of active involvement in the worship experience, setting an energetic tone for the service.

A singer shared a powerful testimony about their initial encounter with the divine, describing it as a life-changing experience that left an indelible mark. The memory of this 'first touch from heaven' continues to resonate with emotional weight, underscoring the permanence of spiritual transformation. This personal reflection acknowledged a sense of personal inadequacy before the profound impact of this divine encounter.

"I still remember the first touch from heaven. It changed me forever." This quote encapsulated the enduring effect of that spiritual moment, emphasizing its transformative power.

The ultimate purpose of this divine intervention is seen as preservation, achieved through mercy rather than judgment.

"Your love through conviction. Reveal what is hidden through thoughts and decisions that I cover up. It's never to hurt me. It's how you preserve me." This reflection highlighted the redemptive nature of conviction.

This comprehensive view suggests that both comfort in distress and correction for missteps are expressions of God's overarching mercy. The message conveyed that all favorable outcomes and interventions in life are gifts of this boundless mercy.

"Every breakthrough, every blessing, God, it's only by your mercy. Every rescue and redemption, God, it's only by your mercy." This statement underscored the pervasive nature of divine mercy in human experience.

Following the musical worship, the service transitioned into a moment of focused corporate prayer, inviting the congregation to pause and collectively seek God's presence. This plea was specifically for God to reveal himself in that moment, emphasizing a desire for a tangible manifestation of Jesus' presence. The worship leader guided the attendees into this time of contemplative and collective prayer.

"Well, let's just take a moment right now. Let's just ask for God to just reveal himself to us right now, this moment." This invitation set the stage for a period of earnest spiritual seeking.

Trevor emphasized that God meets individuals precisely where they are, regardless of their emotional or spiritual state. He affirmed that whether one is weary and burdened, filled with doubt, or in a state of celebration, God is present. This personal and direct interaction with God, rather than through intermediaries, was highlighted as a source of peace and healing through surrender.

"If you find yourself weary and burdened, he meets you there. If you find yourself filled with doubt and you're not even sure what to think of him, he meets you there. If you find yourself in a place of celebration because you're like, 'Man, he's been so good to me.' He meets you there." Trevor's message aimed to reassure congregants that God's presence is universal and accessible.

Trevor also publicly acknowledged 22 baptisms that had taken place the previous Thursday, symbolizing spiritual growth within the community. The congregation continues to extend its prayers to mission teams actively serving in Quebec, demonstrating a commitment to both local and international outreach.

"Thank you that in 2026, God, you are the God who heals today. And so those names that we're lifting up right now that need a healing touch, that that diagnosis that's been spoken over us that we're just lifting to you today, we we just stand and believe for healing in Jesus' name today, God." This prayer underscored the community's faith in divine healing.

The staff expressed eagerness to personally connect with newcomers, offer gifts, and answer any questions they might have about the church. Beyond the physical booth, the church maintains an active engagement strategy, utilizing QR codes and text messaging to foster ongoing connections with its community members.

"There is a new booth right in the middle of the foyer. We'd love to get a gift into your hands. We'd love to put a face to the name, answer any questions you might have." Trevor highlighted the church's commitment to making visitors feel welcome and informed.

This historical event was characterized by a significant outpouring of the Holy Spirit, with William Seymour identified as a central figure in initiating and leading the movement. This connection emphasizes the church's continuity with historical periods of spiritual renewal and revival.

"You see, the same thing happened between 1906 and 1909 in Los Angeles at a place called Isuza Street where there was an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. ... This is where we trace our roots." The speaker underscored the historical foundation of their spiritual heritage.

This desire reflected an aspiration to experience the power of the Holy Spirit, similar to that described in the Book of Acts. Over 109 years, what started in that small home is now claimed to have grown into multiple campuses, demonstrating significant expansion.

"It is out of that hunger that in 1917 a few couples here in Edmonton they were hungry for more of Jesus Christ. ... And friends, 109 years later, what started in that little home is now here." This narrative highlighted the enduring impact of humble beginnings.

This shift allowed him to continue teaching about Jesus Christ, focusing on 'the way, the truth, and the life,' for two years on a daily basis. This period of sustained teaching in a public forum is interpreted as opposition becoming a catalyst, igniting a wider and more impactful spread of the gospel.

"While they said you're done, what God said was, 'You've only just begun.' ... Paul, he sets out to teach about the way. He sets up shop at Tyrannis Hall and he talks about the way and the truth and the life of Jesus Christ." This historical account highlighted resilience in ministry.

He light-heartedly commented on his own appearance to de-center his personality, emphasizing that the church's success is a divine accomplishment. The message underscored a commitment to mission that extends beyond the church's physical walls, driven by spiritual power rather than human effort.

"Friends, I want you to know today that the spirit of God is working through North Point right now. And it's not because we've got it all together." This statement redirected credit for the church's vitality.

He referenced the biblical story of the sons of Sceva as a cautionary tale against such practices, highlighting the dangers of insincere motives in ministry. The core message was a call to prioritize making the name of Jesus great, rather than elevating one's own status or reputation.

"There's a lot of people in pulpits today who are using God's name for their gain. They're using the gospel of Jesus Christ to to get more Instagram followers and to wear nicer clothes and to wear drive nicer cars." The pastor's critique challenged the motives of some contemporary ministry leaders.

In a powerful public demonstration of faith in Ephesus, new believers brought together their sorcery scrolls and burned them publicly. These scrolls were estimated to be worth 50,000 drachmas, signifying a substantial financial sacrifice and a clear break from their past practices. This act symbolized a transition from private belief to public confession, underscoring that genuine public faith involves a definitive separation from former ways of life.

"The number who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly." The speaker cited this event as a testament to radical conversion and commitment.

The message emphasized the necessity of inviting the Holy Spirit to reveal and address any hidden idols that prevent full surrender. It also raised the poignant question of why believers often seek to remain close to the 'fire' of sin, despite knowing its destructive nature, rather than fully embracing a transformed life.

"if you're living a double life today and you're trying to mix Jesus with the things that you used to do, it's a terrible way to live." This direct statement highlighted the painful reality of spiritual duplicity.

The speaker differentiated between individuals who genuinely struggle with their faith but are sincere, and 'impostors' who seek the benefits of salvation without committing to a transformed life. True faith, it was emphasized, requires living for Jesus as Lord, not just as a Savior, implying a complete submission of one's life. The call was to embrace a faith that permeates every aspect of existence, rather than a superficial adherence.

"I am talking about the person who wants Jesus as insurance against the fires of hell but refuses to live for him as Lord of their life. Don't be an impostor." This powerful admonition urged listeners towards genuine commitment.
