Kang Min-goo, Deputy Head of Ethics Monitoring Team, Dismissed After One Day

In response, some argued that it is inappropriate for loyalists to hold key party positions, and that it is currently difficult to find suitable loyalists. It was also pointed out that most capable individuals have some flaws.

Questions were raised about whether figures like Supreme Council Member Moon Jung-bok or Supreme Council Member Park would be appointed to party positions. The situation where figures like Chief of Staff Kim Yong appeared on broadcast to criticize the President was also mentioned. These factors are causing controversy within the Democratic Party, and an analysis suggests that 'removing Jeong Cheong-rae's influence' is ongoing.

In this situation, Representative Kim Min-seok appointed Kang Min-goo as the new Deputy Head of the Ethics Monitoring Team.

The message conveyed the sentiment that the Ethics Monitoring Team must establish party discipline.

Deputy Head Kang seems to have argued that the Ethics Monitoring Team must seize control to establish party discipline. This raises serious concerns about the independence and fairness of the Ethics Monitoring Team.

These entrenched forces are identified as the main culprits who committed nomination irregularities in the last June 3 local elections. There is great expectation that if the Ethics Monitoring Team functions properly, these issues can be resolved.

Deputy Head Kang Min-goo's message seems to have been sent in a hurry due to this situation, but it is pointed out that the Ethics Monitoring Team should not provide a pretext for external attacks if it is to play a righteous role.

In this situation, it was concluded that Deputy Head Kang could not retain his position. Ultimately, Deputy Head Kang Min-goo was dismissed just one day after his appointment.

The message sent by Deputy Head Kang Min-goo mentioned that former Deputy Head Jang In-jae was a former prosecutor's investigator and stated that Rep. Kim Ki-pyo seemed to be 'manipulated.' This, coupled with the situation where Deputy Head Kang Min-goo was appointed as Deputy Head of the Ethics Monitoring Team instead of former Deputy Head Jang In-jae, amplified the controversy.

The issue of Jang In-jae has been raised not just to the level of party disciplinary action, but even to the possibility of judicial processing.

There are already materials secured through related investigations, and cases of nomination irregularities, such as the Kim San mayor case in Muan in 2022, were mentioned. It was pointed out that such irregularities should not be repeated, citing a case where a candidate was given a nomination despite being found to have paid for a #MeToo accusation to remove a rival candidate.

It was emphasized that such nomination irregularities should not be repeated.

This suggests that the party's senior advisors are concerned about the internal party situation. An analysis emerged that the conflict with the Jeong Cheong-rae faction is not only highlighted in online spaces like YouTube but is also inherent within the party.

Representative Kim Min-seok's statement about 'getting along well' is also interpreted as his awareness of this situation. Policy Committee Chairperson Han Jung-ae was appointed directly by Representative Jeong Cheong-rae, and there was a counter-argument that the conservative media's claim of 'loyalist appointments to key positions' might be untrue.

The Secretary-General holds the most significant authority in exercising nomination rights and personnel decisions for the next two years. Since Han Jung-ae was chosen by Representative Jeong Cheong-rae as the policy chairperson during his leadership, it was argued that it is inappropriate to label her as 'not a unifying figure'.

It was pointed out that 'Team Jeong Cheong-rae' lacks 'useful people' for party positions even when considering the list of candidates. It was also argued that there are many individuals with numerous corruption issues that would be problematic if the Ethics Monitoring Team were to operate properly. Citing the example of Supreme Council Member Moon Jung-bok, criticism arose that she, while advocating for one-person, one-vote party sovereignty, used her influence as a National Assembly member to effectively 'insert' her close associates as proportional representatives.

This behavior was pointed out as an example illustrating the problems of the vested interest groups within the Democratic Party.

This is criticized as undermining internal party fairness and pursuing the private interests of vested interest groups.
