Manager Park Byung-joo: “SK Hynix Leverage Achieves 38% Profit, Maintain Samsung Electronics Buy at KRW 272,000”

Manager Park Byung-joo assessed that the pharmaceutical and biotech sector remains overvalued. He believes that the sector will struggle to act as a market leader until next year and expressed skepticism about 'all-in' investments in the overall portfolio.

He added that while the pharmaceutical and biotech sector might see short-term surges, it is more likely to be a temporary phenomenon rather than sustained trend-driven growth.

Manager Park Byung-joo stated that he achieved high short-term profits by investing in SK Hynix after the company announced its share cancellation on August 19. He explained that he bought the stock at its low point immediately after the share cancellation announcement, when its price plummeted.

He recorded an 18.23% profit from investing in SK Hynix stock itself, and notably emphasized realizing a remarkable 38% profit through SK Hynix leverage products. This was presented as a successful case of an investment strategy that leveraged the impact of a major event like share cancellation on stock prices.

He added that such short-term profit realization demonstrates an effective investment strategy in a volatile market.

Manager Park Byung-joo cited the Micron CEO's remarks to analyze that the semiconductor market has entered a trend-driven growth phase beyond temporary economic cycles. He particularly emphasized that the advent of the artificial intelligence (AI) and physical AI era will cause a massive surge in demand for memory semiconductors.

He predicted that these changes will form a new paradigm different from the past semiconductor market, and AI memory will be the core driver of this growth.

With Micron's Q3 earnings announcement scheduled for September 26, Manager Park Byung-joo projected that Micron's total profit margin relative to sales will be even higher in Q4. He attributed the improvement in profit margins to the increasing margins of DRAM manufacturers.

Manager Park commented, “DRAM makers' margins are even better than when NVIDIA was at its peak profit,” expressing optimism for the overall semiconductor industry's earnings improvement.

Manager Park Byung-joo presented Samsung Electronics' performance forecast, citing a KB Securities report. He projected that Samsung Electronics' operating profit for the first half of this year was KRW 146 trillion, and it would substantially increase to approximately KRW 390 trillion in the second half.

Furthermore, Manager Park predicted that Samsung Electronics' operating profit for next year would reach KRW 575 trillion, and the company's market capitalization would also rise in tandem.

Manager Park Byung-joo stated that he currently bought Samsung Electronics shares at KRW 272,000 and maintains his buy position despite the current stock price decline. He emphasized the current opportunity to buy Samsung Electronics to investors.

He also disclosed that he bought SK Hynix shares at KRW 1,760,000, revealing his firm investment philosophy for these two stocks.

Manager Park Byung-joo identified electricity as the most essential element for data center operation. He pointed out that nuclear power and small modular reactors (SMRs) cannot immediately produce the necessary electricity.

He proposed solar energy as an immediate alternative for power supply and emphasized the need for investment in solar-related stocks. This highlights the solar industry as a realistic solution to meet the surging electricity demand from the explosive growth of data centers.

From this perspective, he suggested that solar-related companies could become important investment targets in the future.

Manager Park Byung-joo presented a three-stage investment strategy for responding to a bear market, stating that this was a pledge to existing members. Stage 1 is to sell all stocks to secure cash.

Stage 2 is to buy inverse products with the secured cash, betting on a market decline. The final Stage 3 is to buy Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix leverage products at a low point when the market falls significantly, aiming for high profits.

He explained that the basis for this strategy is utilizing share buyback information mentioned in securities firm reports.

Manager Park Byung-joo revealed past instances of high profits through Samsung Electronics leverage products. He stated that he bought Samsung Electronics leverage on July 29 and achieved a 53% profit the next day, July 30.

He also added that he bought Samsung Electronics leverage on August 6 and sold it on August 14, recording a 24% profit. Through these examples, he emphasized the high profit potential of short-term leverage trading.

Manager Park Byung-joo revealed that SK Hynix leverage products recorded an intraday profit rate of 58% at one point. He stated that he sold at the moment of achieving such high returns to realize profits.

He explained that he manages the combined proportion of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix leverage products in his portfolio at 30% of the total. This is interpreted as a strategy to maximize returns through concentrated investment in high-profit stocks in specific sectors.

Manager Park Byung-joo suggested focusing on beneficiary stocks as AI startup Anthropic is scheduled to list this fall. He predicted that Anthropic's listing issue would significantly impact the market.

Manager Park mentioned SK Telecom as a related beneficiary stock, raising expectations by citing the past example of Future Asset and other related stocks surging when SpaceX listed.

He added that the listing of such large technology companies would bring positive ripple effects across the related industries.

Manager Park Byung-joo proposed an asset replacement trading strategy for investors experiencing losses in the pharmaceutical and biotech sector. He empathized with the difficulties many investors face, saying, “The proportion of pharmaceutical and biotech is high. Many people are probably struggling because of their pharmaceutical and biotech holdings.”

To overcome these losses, he recommended attempting a replacement trade with Anthropic-related beneficiary stocks even now. Manager Park suggested SK Telecom as an Anthropic-related beneficiary stock and mentioned a past case of recovering losses through an LG Electronics replacement trade.

Manager Park Byung-joo predicted that Samsung SDS would serve as the Samsung Group's core data center in the future. He explained that while Samsung currently does not have its own AI model, the necessity of securing a data center is growing based on its semiconductor sales capabilities.

Manager Park commented, “Samsung SDS will now become Samsung Group's data center. Currently, Samsung doesn't have an AI model, even though it sells semiconductors. But it doesn't have a data center.” He analyzed that Samsung SDS would fill this void.

Manager Park Byung-joo mentioned stock price surge cases of companies related to NVIDIA's investments, emphasizing the potential of Naver's data center business. He stated that the stock prices of Lumentum Holdings and Ciena, US companies in which Naver invested $1 billion, increased tenfold.

Manager Park explained that NVIDIA does not invest in every company but in those with sound business models, such as 'Coherent'. This suggests that not only the connection with NVIDIA but also the intrinsic value of the business is important.

Manager Park Byung-joo stated that he succeeded in short-term trading using Samsung Electronics leverage and SK Hynix leverage products three consecutive times from July 29 to August 21. He emphasized that these were short-term trades, not day trades.

Specifically, for SK Hynix leverage, he bought when it fell 20% intraday and sold it on August 20, after the share cancellation announcement, achieving a 38.36% profit, providing specific figures.

Through these successful cases, Manager Park emphasized the importance of effective short-term trading strategies to cope with unstable KOSPI volatility.
