No US Nuclear Plant Orders, Prolonging Domestic Nuclear Stock Stagnation
Jump to 0:45One of the main reasons why domestic nuclear power-related stocks have been stagnant since last year is the delay in U.S. nuclear power plant orders. There was an expectation that the first SMR-related order would come by the end of last year or early this year, but no orders have been placed so far. Lee Young-hoon, Sales Director, explained the current situation: "All those nuclear power stocks are currently stagnant. If you look at it, last year there was an expectation that the first SMR-related order would come by the end of the year or next year, but it didn't happen. It just gives the feeling that things are progressing very slowly in a stagnant state. The U.S. said it would build 300 nuclear power plants, including SMRs, by 2050, but not a single order has been placed." In addition, after a supply-demand imbalance in June, the rebound of nuclear power stocks has been limited, and the possibility of a change in the Democratic Party's stance on nuclear power is being raised depending on the results of the U.S. midterm elections.
