Mixed Close After PCE and Nvidia Earnings Announcements

The July PCE price index slightly exceeded market expectations, resulting in a somewhat unsettling outcome. However, this did not act as a major negative factor for the market. In contrast, Nvidia's earnings announcement surpassed market expectations, serving as a positive catalyst.

Kang Si-wan commented, "The PCE price index came out a bit unfavorably. However, Nvidia performed well," emphasizing that despite the PCE price index exceeding expectations, Nvidia's strong performance supported market sentiment.

Nvidia reported second-quarter revenue of $96.2 billion, significantly exceeding the market consensus of $92.0 billion. It also provided guidance for revenue growth of over 70% excluding China sales, demonstrating strong confidence to the market.

Kang Si-wan stated, "Nvidia's Q2 revenue was $96.2 billion, much better than the consensus of $92.0 billion, and they guided for over 70% revenue growth." He also mentioned long-term guidance until 2028 and issues related to memory procurement.

The possibility of resolving risks in the Middle East has emerged. Reports about the opening of the Strait of Hormuz suggested signs of easing economic sanctions on Iran.

Furthermore, an atmosphere of dialogue is forming, with Iranian moderates expressing willingness to negotiate with the US and US diplomats returning to the Middle East. Kang Si-wan explained, "Middle East risks are being resolved. Iranian moderates have indicated they will negotiate," expressing anticipation for a de-escalation of tensions in the Middle East.

Investors' attention is focused on upcoming key economic events. The Bank of Korea's Monetary Policy Committee meeting is scheduled for August 27, and on Friday, there will be a keynote speech by the Federal Reserve (Fed) Chair at the Jackson Hole meeting.

On Friday, there's the Jackson Hole meeting with the Chair's keynote speech, where it's very important whether a September rate hike will be explicitly mentioned." He particularly noted whether a clear signal regarding a September rate hike would emerge. Additionally, Tesla's Cybertruck launch event is scheduled for September 3.

HD Hyundai Energy Solutions has emerged as a stock expected to benefit from policies favoring domestic products and a decline in Chinese market share. It is currently trading above 145,000 won.

Kang Si-wan explained, "HD Hyundai Energy Solutions has surpassed 145,000 won. I recommend making phased purchases from 144,700 won to 143,000 won. For existing holders, you should further check whether it shows a trend above 145,000 won." He suggested phased buying in the 143,000 to 145,000 won range.

Given the somewhat sluggish intraday performance of HD Hyundai Energy Solutions, the trading strategy has been adjusted. After the initial purchase, 137,500 won has been set as the waiting price for the second purchase.

Kang Si-wan said, "Wait for the second purchase at 137,500 won, alright? And the stop-loss will be around 130,000 won," suggesting a stop-loss price of 130,000 won to flexibly respond to market conditions.

It is gaining market attention with strong performance in power infrastructure and secondary battery sectors.

Kang Si-wan mentioned, "Samsung SDI is moving strongly in the secondary battery sector to push further, showing strong performance in power infrastructure and secondary batteries." He emphasized Samsung SDI's aggressive market strategy. Additionally, volatility in secondary battery-related stocks, such as Sangsin EDP triggering a VI (volatility interruption), was observed.

Approximately 2.5% profit was realized, and investors were congratulated on their gains.
