AI Agents Criticized for Bloated and Low-Quality Code
Andrej Karpathy observes that AI agents frequently inflate code abstractions and exhibit subpar code aesthetics, often resorting to copy-pasting code blocks extensively, which results in disorganized and inefficient solutions.
Karpathy further notes that models often make incorrect assumptions on a user's behalf and proceed without validation, leading to dead code and generating excessive lines where a fraction would suffice, such as 1,000 lines when 100 would do.
