Bear the Witch Breaks Records, Battles Challenges

A five-day break is scheduled from October 6th to October 11th, as she is helping with family visiting and festivities, including her mother's 60th birthday.

The streamer acknowledged that her family members are not fully aware of the nature and demands of subathons.

Overwhelming audience support prompted the streamer to adjust the subathon mechanics to better manage her workload.

The time-per-point ratio for subathon extensions is being reduced from three minutes to two minutes to help ensure the event concludes within the next few weeks.

To assist with managing the extended duration and her workload, which sometimes keeps her up until 1 to 2 a.m., she adjusted the subathon mechanics.

The streamer plans to offer discounts on the day prior to her break and on the day of her return as a gesture of appreciation for her viewers' support.

The recent popularity of titles like Forza hints at a broader resurgence for the racing genre.

The streamer observed that while the art in Star Wars games often demonstrates exceptional quality, the underlying game mechanics frequently do not meet the same high standard.

She mentioned knowing individuals who have worked at Lucasfilm and on Star Wars games, providing her with insight into their production process.

For those expressing interest in public, the streamer views leaving a phone number on a napkin as a low-pressure method that avoids making the recipient feel trapped.

She advises against flirting with individuals at their workplace, emphasizing that such interactions can make employees feel uncomfortable or trapped.

The streamer personally prefers confidence demonstrated through genuine conversation over the use of pickup lines.

The streamer maintains a strict personal rule against workplace dating, citing that such relationships can lead to discomfort and potential friction.

She reflected that her identity as a VTuber adds a unique layer of difficulty to her personal life, particularly concerning romantic relationships.

Bear considers herself a small streamer within the broader industry, despite having a loyal viewer base, acknowledging that success is relative depending on the comparison point.

Smaller channels often build more intimate connections, whereas larger communities can drift into repetitive, attention-seeking viewer behaviors that the streamer finds less engaging.

Bear emphasizes maintaining a positive environment by strictly moderating 'freaky' behavior within her chat.

She expressed a dislike for repetitive, attention-seeking messages commonly found in larger streams, highlighting them as a significant detractor from the chat experience.

A good chat experience, in her view, heavily relies on keeping conversations relevant and on-topic, rather than allowing discussions to derail.

The streamer observed that some communities foster a sense of entitlement among viewers, believing their financial support grants them control over the streamer's time and actions.

She clarified that she views financial support as part of a reciprocal relationship, where she shows up for her audience in return for their support, rather than a mechanism for control.

Ultimately, the streamer highlighted that respecting her as a human being is the foundational requirement for a healthy interaction within her community.

Bear stressed that she does not want anyone to feel that financial contributions are necessary, asserting that showing up for streams is equally valuable.

She expressed that she does not want viewers to do things outside of their means for her, stating that her primary goal is for viewers to simply enjoy the stream.

Bear the Witch clarified rules regarding off-topic chat during her subathon, emphasizing that such discussions are permissible as long as they do not interrupt existing conversations.

She highlighted the importance of 'time and place' for various subjects to ensure a smooth and enjoyable chat experience for all participants.

A viewer named Lumi helped boost the subathon timer by 20 hours, a feat the streamer highlighted as impressive.

Bear the Witch stated, 'This is the first time in my life I've never had a long-term plan.'

She expressed hope to continue streaming and pursuing art professionally, acknowledging that three years have passed quickly.

She conveyed that she is currently having fun and hopes to maintain her current path.

Archon faces similar performance difficulties when running on that specific device.

Bear the Witch confirmed her second attempt at Gym 1 in her Nuzlocke challenge, dubbed 'Pakistan 2.0'.

She expressed hope to avoid another loss to Leavanny, recalling a previous critical hit that ruined her run.

The streamer mentioned the strategic addition of Tepic to her team for this attempt, aiming to secure victory.

Used frequently for morning coffee and baking, store-bought cinnamon is now under scrutiny following reports of lead contamination that Bear the Witch warns could impact consumer health.

She jokingly speculated whether her consumption of cinnamon could be related to her own behavior.

Bear the Witch remarked on what she perceives as a 'generational run of garbage' lately regarding food quality, noting it is not exclusive to America.

She cited historical examples, such as Coca-Cola once containing cocaine, and expressed relief that modern society does not require individuals to personally identify poisonous mushrooms.

The streamer shared that she recently went vegetarian and expressed frustration regarding food recalls affecting her access to items like blueberries.

She confirmed her commitment to posting a daily short video on her main channel, stating that she handles the editing for these shorts off-stream and is already four days into this commitment.

Bear the Witch shared her approach to drawing complex hair, advising artists to perceive hair as a large, singular shape that serves as a fundamental design element.

She recommended breaking down complex forms into progressively smaller shapes—from big to medium to small—to manage the intricacy and avoid overwhelming oneself.

The artist underscores that prioritizing silhouette over granular accuracy, combined with breaking conventional rules through consistent practice, creates significant artistic improvement.

Bear the Witch revealed that her press-on nails have remained perfectly intact for two weeks, exceeding her expectations.

She attributed this durability to a double-layer glue technique: applying one layer, letting it dry, filing, and then applying a second layer before attaching the nail.

The specific product used is 'Beauty Secrets Nail Glue,' available at Sally Beauty and Amazon, which she describes as the strongest nail glue she has ever used, with Glametic nail glue being a strong second.

Bear the Witch expressed her desire to see Baby Metal in concert again and mentioned she might go to see SiM in Los Angeles.

She recounted the difficulties of securing concert tickets for popular artists in Southern California, noting that they go fast and are expensive.

The streamer also reflected on attending a concert by the band Kin-Off, noting that it was one of the longest concerts she has ever been to and that it was worth the money.

Bear the Witch expressed weariness regarding the prevalence of AI in mainstream content, including music videos, citing K-pop as a prominent example. She specifically mentioned the Blackpink video 'Jump' as containing significant AI elements, contributing to a sense of frustration.

The streamer discussed the fatigue of having to scrutinize content for AI. Supporting authentic passion is a priority for her, and she feels frustrated by the ambiguity of AI-generated content.

She expressed a belief that many AI integrations in music videos might be driven by management, particularly in larger companies like SM, YG, or JP. While she acknowledges that industry veterans like Tamman may maintain more control, the use of AI in mainstream projects is generally a source of irritation.

She expressed a desire to simply enjoy art and online communities without the constant need to scrutinize for AI deception. She also mentioned that she would not be surprised if there is AI in content she hasn't even noticed yet.

She highlighted that shows with older-skewing audiences typically provide a better experience.

Preferring more controlled environments, the streamer avoids smaller hardcore shows because of the intensity and unruly nature of their mosh pits.

During a Wonder Years concert, Bear the Witch recounted being frustrated by aggressive pushing from behind near the edge of the pit, an experience she found annoying despite its perceived normalcy.

A tall stranger, approximately 6'5", stepped in front of her, effectively shielding her from the crowd and preventing her from being pushed into the mosh pit. This act of kindness was deeply appreciated by the streamer.

She reflected on the unexpected kindness of the individual who protected her personal space, emphasizing the positive impact of such gestures in crowded concert settings.

Bear the Witch expressed her satisfaction with a current drawing, noting that it might be her favorite work to date. She observed a recurring pattern where drawings completed quickly often turn out better than those she overthinks.

The artist attributed the ease and quality of this particular drawing to the simplified character design of 'Vay.' She also mentioned her disappointment with previous complex projects, such as an 'Ari' drawing, which she felt she had overcomplicated.

She finds the trend confusing and remains unsure why people participate in it.

She noted that while she technically could do it because she has her 3D model, she would have to pay to get it animated. She also stated, "I think you guys probably want your Subathon uh contributions to be used for something a little bit a little bit more uh responsible than Varity Dance Challenge, but that's just a hunch."

She expressed skepticism about whether TikTok would actually pay her the promised amount, stating, "knowing Tik Tok, uh, they probably wouldn't pay me knowing Tik Tok."

The streamer expressed determination to beat him on the second go around.

The streamer manages captures under Nuzlocke rules with an encounter tracker for Route 3 and Wellspring Cave. She explained that there are encounters for those areas.

Her previous defeat has motivated her to seek retribution against the gym leader after finishing her current drawing.

She also noted her excitement for her current drawing, which she completed in about an hour and a half, potentially setting a new record for her.

Previous naming patterns from the community have included humorous and unconventional suggestions such as 'Piss 2,' '67 Verity Jr.,' and 'Big Smoke,' reflecting the chat's active involvement in the Nuzlocke run. The streamer noted her team was almost 10 levels higher than the newly caught Pokémon.

This early simplicity contrasts sharply with later challenges.

She identified the third gym leader, Burgh, as a significant hurdle, particularly for players who did not choose the fire-type starter, Tepig. Burgh's bug and grass-type Pokémon pose a substantial challenge.

The streamer specifically highlighted the gym's Pokémon composition as "evil" for those without a strong counter, making strategic team building crucial. Players often struggle with the type matchups if they haven't prepared adequately.

She noted that 'Teep' and 'Pet' are key counters for the bug/grass types prevalent in Burgh's gym, underscoring the importance of having specific Pokémon to overcome this difficulty spike. The quick battle system in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl only allowed battles with level 30 Pokémon, indicating a different scaling from the current game.

This assumption influenced her gameplay in previous runs.

She speculated that this belief might have stemmed from observing other streamers, such as 'Lwig,' who had incorporated such a rule into their specific Nuzlocke challenge. This highlights how individual interpretations can shape a community-based rule set.

The streamer confirmed that mandatory trainer battles are not a standard Nuzlocke rule, providing clarity for her current playthrough and potentially altering her future strategic decisions.

The streamer expressed frustration with the Patrat encounter on the current route, labeling it "the worst encounter we could have gotten on that route."

Patrat was viewed as objectively weak, leading the streamer to decide on replacing its 'Tail Whip' move for team optimization.

The streamer noted that the subathon had already extended beyond her initial expectations and directed viewers to her Discord channel for further schedule updates, promising to also post on Twitter.

The streamer questioned the exact mechanics of the 'Retaliate' move, specifically if the damage boost is permanent after an ally faints or only applies in the turn immediately following.

The streamer reviewed the game's details and noted that damage increases if an ally fainted in the previous turn.

This clarification informed a new strategy to use 'Confuse Ray' for managing the upcoming Gym Leader fight.

The capture was achieved using a Great Ball, and the streamer expressed delight over the new team member.

Despite the successful capture, the streamer commented on consistently receiving 'low roll' luck with Pokémon natures in this run, contrasting it with a previous, more fortunate playthrough.

The streamer noted that the game provides many berries, but they are ineffective in this gym as they are consumed or nullified by the opponent.

Consequently, the streamer decided against using berries on their Pokémon to avoid wasting resources during the fight.

Natures such as Timid, Naive, Quiet, and Rash were noted as suboptimal for the team's strategic needs, affecting stats like speed, special defense, and special attack.

Ultimately, the streamer concluded that the team's current set of natures was "terrible."

They remarked on the bridge connecting New Jersey and New York City, questioning if walking across such a bridge would be realistic.

This observation served as a lighthearted critique of the game's world-building.

The streamer recounted her long-standing difficulty with sleeping on airplanes, a personal struggle that makes long-haul flights particularly challenging.

She recalled a trip to England where she remained awake for approximately 36 to 48 hours because she could not sleep during the flight.

While she noted some improvement in her ability to sleep on planes, the streamer openly admitted to hating flying, acknowledging that while it is technically an irrational fear, turbulence remains scary.

She noted that she is hoping the same scenario does not happen again.

The streamer highlighted that she had two new encounters before this, providing the team with necessary support for the gym battle.

The streamer decided to replace the 'Air Cutter' move with 'Detect' for a Pokémon on her team, deeming 'Air Cutter' to be "kind of garbage."

Additionally, the 'Tackle' move was removed to make room for other moves.

The streamer expressed faith in Tepig to help carry the team through the challenging gym.

In a surprising turn of events, Poobat survived a critical hit, even though the streamer had considered sacrificing it to secure a safe switch.

The battle against Berg concluded without any losses to the streamer's party, a significant achievement in a Nuzlocke challenge.

The streamer expressed profound shock and relief at Poobat's unexpected endurance, exclaiming at the absence of any deaths.

This survival allowed the streamer to move forward in their Pokémon journey with their team intact.

Bear the Witch pondered the humorous yet anticlimactic possibility of achieving Twitch partner status while on a break from streaming.

The streamer voiced a preference to be present and actively engaged when such a significant milestone is reached, rather than being away.

Bear the Witch explained the use of rare candies for leveling up Pokémon, stating that it is a deliberate choice to prevent boring the audience with repetitive grinding.

The streamer argued that the traditional method of grinding levels in a Nuzlocke challenge, involving spamming battle commands, is not entertaining content for viewers.

This approach prioritizes progression and engagement over the monotonous aspects of level advancement, ensuring a more dynamic viewing experience for the audience.

During a battle, a Wild Pokémon, Lillipup, nearly defeated a team member with the move Pursuit, surprising the streamer.

Bear the Witch admitted to consistently overlooking the mechanics and potential danger of Pursuit in battles.

The streamer reflected on the significant threat posed by unexpected moves in a Nuzlocke challenge, highlighting how quickly a run can be jeopardized.

The streamer expressed significant frustration as an opponent's Pokémon repeatedly used the move 'Detect', prolonging the battle.

This defensive strategy led to a repetitive encounter, which the player characterized as 'rage baiting'.

The streamer's irritation highlighted the challenge of maintaining composure when faced with drawn-out battle tactics.

Bianca's father confronted her, demanding she return home due to safety concerns for her journey, emphasizing his traditional views on her path.

Elesa, the Nimbasa City Gym Leader and a model, intervened in the family argument, advocating for Bianca's right to pursue her own path.

Elesa emphasized the importance of embracing differences and developing independence as crucial aspects of personal growth, challenging the father's protective stance.

Following the discussion, Bianca's father reflected on his own behavior and ultimately allowed her to continue her journey of self-discovery.

The player captured a Trubbish on Route 16, adding it to their Pokémon roster.

The chat, following a suggestion, prompted the streamer to nickname the newly captured Trubbish 'Chud'.

The streamer expressed confidence that Trubbish, especially once evolved into Garbodor and equipped with Toxic Spikes, would be a critical asset for the upcoming battle against Elesa.

N, identifying himself as the King of Team Plasma, intercepted the player at the amusement park's ferris wheel.

He stated that his immediate goal was to engage the player in battle to create a diversion, allowing other Team Plasma members to escape.

N then issued a challenge for the player to collect all gym badges and meet him at the Pokémon League for a decisive confrontation.

The streamer identified Elesa's Emolga as the primary concern for the upcoming gym battle due to its potent Volt Switch move.

A critical observation was made that both of Elesa's Emolga possess the 'Static' ability, significantly increasing the risk of paralysis for the player's Pokémon.

The strategy was adjusted to include Pokémon with electric immunity, such as Palpitoad (nicknamed 'Bloke'), to counteract Emolga's electric-type attacks.

Bear the Witch acknowledged the potential for unfavorable random number generation (RNG) to lead to significant losses for the team, underscoring the high stakes of the Nuzlocke challenge.

Bear the Witch articulated significant apprehension regarding the upcoming battle with Elesa, specifically highlighting the inability to use paralysis heals during the Nuzlocke.

The streamer expressed anxiety about facing static-induced paralysis and identified Volt Switch, Aerial Ace, Quick Attack, and Pursuit as moves that could exploit this vulnerability.

A strong emphasis was placed on avoiding 'face tanking' status conditions, indicating a strategic need to mitigate paralysis risks rather than absorbing them directly.

Concerns were expressed regarding the difficulty of this gym, with the streamer admitting a fear that it would be harder than the previous challenge against Burgh.

To optimize their team, all Pokemon were targeted to reach level 27, and items like the quick claw and oranberry were assigned to key Pokemon such as 'Peebis', 'Piss 2', and 'Chud' to enhance their combat readiness.

Bear the Witch celebrated a hard-fought victory against the gym leader, praising 'Chud' for a clutch performance and highlighting the crucial role of 'toxic spikes' in securing the win.

Following the battle, the streamer informed viewers that the next day would be the final stream before a short break, which is scheduled to begin on October 6th due to family commitments.

The streamer announced that a sub discount would be available during the following day's stream, and plans for the return include an adjustment to channel point timers, reducing them from three minutes to two minutes per sub.
