Mr. 'Simon', identified as the initial spreader of a threatening post against leader Lee Jae-myung, has appealed his innocence. NewsTamSa has refuted Lee Jong-won's claims through a call with Simon.
The host stated, "We have made contact with this person, Simon," and conveyed that Simon explained the circumstances under which he posted the content and his process of tracking the truth. NewsTamSa explained that Simon is being doxxed and labeled as the initial spreader in Lee Jong-won's broadcast.
Simon claimed to have secured evidence proving he was not the spreader. He lamented, "I have secured evidence to prove that I was the one who spread it... but I was never contacted for an interview." It was revealed that while Lee Jong-won criticized Simon, linking him to Jung Min-chul and even President Lee Jae-myung, he never contacted Simon for factual verification.
NewsTamSa criticized Lee Jong-won for failing to perform cross-checks, despite his past emphasis on their importance for fabricated chat messages. The host stated, "Despite emphasizing it, he himself did not perform any cross-checks and instead, pointed to an innocent person as the initial spreader," highlighting that Lee Jong-won did not follow any fact-checking procedures with Simon, who was accused of being the initial spreader. This is seen as a contradiction to his own principles.
The host read Simon's message, saying, "He expresses his sincerity and earnestness. He promises to accurately verify sources in the future and not make mistakes." Simon took responsibility and apologized for unintentionally contributing to the spread of misinformation.
NewsTamSa stated that Simon submitted records showing he visited the gallery link where the post was uploaded, not the original manipulated post itself. The host explained, "This proves that Simon is not actually the person who manipulated this," adding that these records could serve as objective evidence during police investigations to prove Simon is not the original author.
Simon's posting time was identified as 2:18 PM on August 17th, but a screenshot of the same content, taken at 2:17 PM, already existed. The host explained, "This means that at least someone before Simon captured and shared it earlier," pointing out that another spreader had already shared the screenshot before Simon posted the content.
Lee Jong-won identified 'Simon' as the initial manipulator and spreader of the Lee Jae-myung threat post, but the possibility that Simon was not the original author has been raised. The host explained, "So someone captured the manipulated comment. Simon posted this for the first time at 2:18 PM, and before that, someone else had already captured and posted the manipulated SNS post." This suggests that someone else had captured and posted the manipulated SNS post before Simon. Manipulation is presumed to have occurred around 9:17 to 9:18 AM on the day of the party convention.
The host pointed out, "He uploaded these squares against someone named Simon, and despite having the will to contact him, he never made a single contact for an interview and branded this person as the initial manipulator or spreader, and furthermore, doxxed him." This was criticized as an act of division that exploited the anger of supporters.
Through these claims, Lee Jong-won pushed Simon into a specific political camp.
In his broadcast, he stated, "I told you before that NewsTamSa is strange. Suddenly, during this party convention, they're talking about Shincheonji and Kang Jin-gu and NewsTamSa are doing that," portraying NewsTamSa as a force working within the democratic camp. NewsTamSa criticized Lee Jong-won for making exaggerated interpretations based on his own logic.
The host explained, "Simon is now branded as part of the YoonAgain forces, and not only Simon, but also Jung Min-chul communicating with such a Simon, and even President Lee Jae-myung following him, and such a Simon defending NewsTamSa," pointing out that he attempted to attack uncomfortable figures all at once by even including the President's follow list.
The host emphasized, "Simon is not a YoonAgain force. He is a person who went in to uncover their schemes and reveal them to the public." Simon conducted undercover activities to expose the schemes of the YoonAgain forces, and his history of providing information to Newstapa and NewsTamSa has been confirmed.
