Rivals of Atlas: Asia Creators Day 1 Dominance

Teams were assembled through a point-based drafting system, emphasizing balance and competitive fairness.

The casters introduced the inaugural match, featuring Bay Masters against White Yo-kai, setting the stage for an exciting competition.

The three-ban format defined early team compositions, with Emma Frost emerging as a significant new character pick in the evolving meta.

White Yo-kai initiated the ban phase by targeting Squirrel Girl, aiming to mitigate long-range pressure and disruptive crowd control.

Bay Masters secured Groot, leveraging its utility for tanking and area denial against enemy advances.

Spider-Man and Star-Lord were identified as crucial high-priority bans, reflecting their impact on character-specific strategies and team compositions.

The strategic bans suggested that both teams had extensive knowledge of each other's playstyles and preferred characters.

Seeking to overcome Bay Masters' defensive walls, Yogurt pivoted to Hawkeye for off-angle picks, a switch one observer described by saying, "Opting to pick the Psylock together with the Hawkeye here. I wonder what their plan will be."

This character change affected the match, as White Yo-kai aimed to dismantle Bay Masters' positions.

Suzu and Yogurt displayed target priority, engaging Bay Masters' backline and support characters.

Despite Bay Masters' initial performance, the Hawkeye pick was used to secure eliminations and contest map control.

Bay Masters struggled to regain control and momentum following the map transition and White Yo-kai's strategic adjustments.

Suzu was awarded MVP for their exceptional performance, particularly in disrupting the enemy backline with critical shots.

The final map concluded with Yogurt's Hawkeye delivering a decisive performance, solidifying White Yo-kai's comeback victory.

Yogurt and Suzu Yun were identified as the most impactful players for White Yo-kai, consistently making critical plays that swung the momentum.

Yogurt, in particular, served as a pivotal point for White Yo-kai's strategies, often neutralizing key threats like Iron Fist's ultimate ability.

Burns emerged as the standout performer for Bay Masters, demonstrating strong individual play despite his team's eventual loss.

Bay Masters demonstrated proficiency in trading ultimates and maintaining team momentum.

Conversely, White Yo-kai relied on surprise DPS picks to secure points and disrupt opponents.

The teams' fighting styles were compared to a baton relay, noting how momentum shifted between the competitors.

White Yo-kai implemented a triple tank composition, supported by double healers and Spider-Man.

This lineup facilitated an aggressive playstyle, allowing the team to advance through contested areas.

Autofill player moved to Magneto, while Burns maintained his role on Groot.

The triple tank formation provided sustained pressure at choke points.

Bay Masters deployed Wolverine to counter White Yo-kai's tank-heavy composition.

Bay Masters attempted to pressure the opposing front line with the Wolverine pick.

White Yo-kai continued to synchronize their ultimate abilities to maintain their position.

The strategic challenge for Bay Masters remained as White Yo-kai coordinated their ultimates against the incoming pressure.

Yogurt was highlighted as the potential MVP for his outstanding performance on Spider-Man throughout the series.

Bay Masters struggled to mount a successful counter-push despite having ultimate abilities available in the final crucial moments of the game.

The series concluded with a clean 2-0 sweep in favor of White Yo-kai, showcasing their superior coordination and adaptability.

Initial bans included Star-Lord and Thor, which one caster observed might indicate the teams knew their opponents well.

Commentators debated the removal of Thor and Loki, questioning if the decision was purely personal: "What if we're just overthinking this and they're just target banning each other cuz they know each other?"

The analysis shifted to team compositions, where 'Up to You Guys' ran Rocket and Punisher against Groot—raising questions about their defensive choice on offense—while 'Tie Breakers' countered with a long-range setup featuring Storm and Neore.

Kaz's performance on Punisher was described by casters as uncontested, allowing him to deal significant damage while pushing the payload forward.

Casters compared the gameplay flow to an arcade shooter, observing that Punisher's ultimate appeared to operate on a 30-second cooldown, providing consistent pressure.

Even with healing efforts from the 'Thie Breakers,' specifically from Invisible Woman, the damage output from Kaz's Punisher remained a significant factor.

A caster remarked that choosing to save Namor signals an intent 'to play more of a brawl composition here.'

Casters questioned the specific ban choices, with one noting that Hulk 'is just going to be a really big menace to deal with,' and stating that 'your guess is as good as mine' regarding the ban. They noted the score was 1 to 0 for 'Up to You Guys.'

Later, a caster clarified that 'They banned out the Hulk because they don't want to deal with the dive potential of them. They do want to play something more brawl oriented like with the Thing with the with the Groot and then now they're opting to run this triple tank composition instead to give themselves a lot more durability.'

Kaz's performance, particularly his use of the Galactic Legend ultimate, was highlighted as a key factor in forcing opponents into unoptimal positions.

Despite 'Thie Breakers' attempting a double shield composition, 'Up to You Guys' maintained tempo control, securing a series victory.

'Thie Breakers' managed to secure a temporary point through a coordinated effort, utilizing Luna's slow ultimate and the Punisher ultimate to stall their opponents.

Kyozaki played a role, successfully running down opponents to secure the point for 'Thie Breakers,' providing a brief spark of resistance in a match where 'Up to You Guys' was often dominant.

Familiar names such as Sabi and Akun appeared on the roster, signaling an interesting matchup on the new battlefield. The tournament sparked excitement among commentators, who described the players as cracked and anticipated a strong showing.

The Crica map, a new addition to the tournament, promised fresh strategic opportunities. The casters engaged in banter regarding the team names while discussing the upcoming draft phase.

In the draft phase for the Crica match, Venom and Spider-Man were banned by The Tweakers to counter C9 In's dive compositions.

Luna also received a ban due to the impact of her ultimate ability, which the casters described as being crazy good.

Both teams made strategic saves, with Captain America and Black Widow being picked. The casters described Captain America as a nuisance that forces teams to divert resources.

C9 In's pressure forced The Tweakers to regroup, eventually leading to C9 In securing the first point.

His use of Iron Fist proved essential, functioning as a central part of C9 In's success.

Commentators highlighted the pivotal role of tanks like Foro, noting the impact of their ultimates in team fights, underscoring the strategic backbone they provided for C9 In.

Both teams were encouraged to review their VODs to identify areas for improvement, as C9 In took a 1-0 lead in the series.

This map tests attacking discipline, particularly regarding regrouping speed.

Regrouping effectively after losing a team member stands as a key factor for success.

Both C9 In and the Tweakers experienced difficulties in avoiding 'staggering' during transitions, indicating a challenge for both teams.

The Tweakers countered with a triple DPS setup, including Rocket Raccoon and Punisher, supported by two healers and Magneto as a solo tank.

Commentators highlighted the Tweakers' strategy as generating high poke pressure on the front line, while questioning whether the team would have an answer to Iron Man.

Despite attempts to counter with characters like Storm and Squirrel Girl, the Tweakers could not dislodge C9 In's dominance.

Iron Man concluded the match with an impressive 29 kills and 25,000 damage in less than 10 minutes, highlighting his central role in C9 In's victory.

This wide rank gap for Wild Chimpanzees emphasizes the critical need for strong teamwork and a well-suited team composition to compete against Social Distancing, whose players have more closely aligned ranks.

The discussion centered on whether these combinations could deploy double ultimates, potentially delivering immense damage to the front line.

The potential for clones to replicate ultimate abilities, such as deploying two Magneto ultimates, would represent a devastating and game-changing mechanic.

The team further reinforced their anti-dive strategy by banning Spider-Man, indicating a deliberate effort to protect characters vulnerable to aggressive, close-range engagements.

Social Distancing's bans target characters susceptible to dive compositions, a strategy that necessitates a defensive setup to ensure team survivability.

Wild Chimpanzees struggled to take crucial space, leaving them tucked away in defensive positions without an effective counter-strategy.

Social Distancing successfully forced Wild Chimpanzees into a reactive state, preventing them from establishing a strong presence or challenging key areas of the map.

Wild Chimpanzees mounted a strong defensive effort, with 6K securing crucial triple kills that disrupted Social Distancing's offensive pushes and forced them to regroup.

Pablo's character swaps, including transitioning to Moon Knight, provided Wild Chimpanzees with flexibility to counter Social Distancing's compositions.

The team utilized portals and positioning to stall the objective, demonstrating a coordinated effort to control space and delay Social Distancing's advance.

Despite Social Distancing's reliance on support ultimates for healing, the commentators noted these were used to keep players online, while Wild Chimpanzees mounted a determined defense.

Gia secured a triple kill on Iron Man, effectively cracking the enemy backline.

Casters expressed surprise at Gia's consistent ability to secure multiple kills with single ultimate activations.

Gia was noted as a significant reason why Social Distancing kept the game competitive.

Wild Chimpanzees secured their victory after Domo helped the team recover during the team fight.

The team displayed notable discipline by holding their tank ultimates, deploying them effectively to seal the win.

Social Distancing now needs to find their passion to hopefully reverse sweep.

The casters believed that the only reason why Social Distancing couldn't make it too far was because Wimpy had the Momo, and the ultimate timings for the Momo were just too good.

The precise timing of Momo's ultimate was noted by casters as highly effective.

Furthermore, they could not do anything about the flanking Scarlet Witch, contributing to their stalled advance.

Taking it out of the game basically secures so much more space for you because you wouldn't have to deal with a lasering squid.

Wild Chimpanzees managed to stand their ground, with The Thing staying on the payload to delay the objective.

The healers respawned right in time to keep him online. He was at 150 health at one point and he bounced back up to around like 500.

This sustain allowed the rest of Wild Chimpanzees to regroup and mount a comeback, pushing the payload forward as they traded blows effectively.

The BRB machine already consumed on the side of social distancing here. Look at this team composition that they have.

They have so much damage and so far social distancing they're struggling to answer this on the back line here as the rest of the tanks are just given so much space to push up.

Social distancing was forced to distance themselves from the point otherwise they might fall and get staggered, while Wild Chimpanzees continued their stampede.

It turned into an all-out brawl where nobody knows who's going to come out on top. But the magic coming in clutch there with incredible damage output.

The raccoon doesn't fall. Actually does. W finishing him off. It's covering time. Social distancing tried their best, but Sonic can't move around anymore. The point goes to Watchi.

Wild Chimpanzees secured the objective in overtime, extending the match to the third point. The game is described as an absolute nailbiter of a game with over a minute remaining on the clock.

The dark child swap, that magic swap was incredible from the Momo, especially when they popped their alt and started getting all the backlines.

It was a fight over 0.13 m.

Emma Frost is highly valued in tournament play for her strong tanking capabilities, impressive damage output, and defensive shield.

Hulk continues to be a crucial anchor for numerous team-up abilities, often making him a prime target for bans in many matchups.

Namor has established himself as a reliable staple for countering dive compositions, providing consistent utility.

Double-flyer strategies, particularly involving Storm and Johnny Storm, are gaining traction despite inherent synchronization challenges.

Mr. Fantastic is frequently banned due to the recent changes to his E-ability, which now includes a 30% slow.

Captain America is a priority ban because he is one of the premier vanguards in Marvel Rivals and is able to buy time, especially in capture the point formats.

Jeff the Shark is selected in the final ban slots as a community favorite, as the last two save and ban slots do not count toward the match.

Bucky demonstrates significant effectiveness in countering Loki by repeatedly triggering resets on his clones, disrupting Loki's utility.

Punisher's high damage output forced 'Eternuts' into defensive maneuvers, highlighting the impact of sustained offensive pressure.

Magic's burst damage potential is highly effective at quickly eliminating support heroes, breaking down the enemy's sustain.

Triple-support compositions, while offering high sustainability, are noted for their comparatively low damage output, making them vulnerable to focused burst damage.

The Eternals secured a victory by having their tanks push the objective while the opposing team was preoccupied with defending against backline pressure.

Sina, playing Magic, and Vault the Fox, on Loki, delivered high-impact performances that significantly contributed to the win.

The victory was enabled by a 'triple support' composition adjustment that facilitated aggressive and coordinated plays.

Casters specifically highlighted Zudo’s crucial role as a solo tank, who effectively held the front line during the offensive push.

Sina of Eternals selected Human Torch, leveraging recent buffs to his sustainability and speed to great effect.

Human Torch's flame walls and zoning potential proved instrumental in splitting enemy teams and controlling key areas.

Casters observed that 'Time to Sticky' struggled to counter the Human Torch without a dedicated hitscan DPS player.

The shifting meta prompted 'Time to Sticky' to swap out their DPS to Bucky in an attempt to address the aerial threat.

The match culminated in a critical duel between Magic and Venom, as other heroes were eliminated.

Casters favored Magic to win the duel due to her inherent shield ability, offering a defensive advantage.

Time to Sticky's precarious position was exacerbated by the absence of a portal reset in the final moments of overtime.

When Hawkeye successfully hits a headshot on a high-priority target, he can prevent them from repositioning effectively, such as when Scarlet Witch attempts to disengage after losing approximately 100 HP.

Hawkeye's katana also provides a knockback utility that can be disruptive during close-quarters skirmishes, which can be an important factor if the opposing team employs dive compositions to counter him.

Because one diver is sometimes insufficient to deal with an accurate Hawkeye, teams might need to coordinate multiple divers, such as Venom paired with Black Panther, Iron Fist, or Spider-Man, to force him to adjust his play or switch characters.

In the early stages of the match, 2SS secured a significant advantage by consistently having three ultimate abilities available compared to Cosmic Bunny's two.

Cosmic Bunny's Doctor Strange, playing as Magneto, had his shield depleted due to dark energy depletion, resulting in a pick-off.

The coordinated team composition of 2SS showcased superior synergy, effectively pushing Cosmic Bunny's defenses.

Cosmic Bunny struggled with team play, and after a key ultimate from Hawkeye picked off targets, they had difficulty regaining tempo, with Psylocke providing limited impact in her attempt to adjust.

The map's layout emphasizes the importance of team synergy, team composition, and map knowledge, with highly mobile characters like Black Panther and Spider-Man excelling in its hunting grounds.

Despite his lack of an explosive ultimate, teams often avoid banning him because he provides a consistent foundation for their compositions.

Teams may prioritize banning other characters like Luna Snow, whose ultimates can be difficult to counter, reflecting a strategic preference for stable foundations over high-impact, situational ultimate plays.

This play demonstrated that finding a single opening could potentially break the pressure applied by an opponent.

However, 2SS proved resilient, and despite Cosmic Bunny's successful trade, they struggled to maintain control as 2SS responded with coordinated defensive efforts.

2SS secured a victory in Game 3 by exhausting every single one of their ultimates to maintain control over the objective against Cosmic Bunny.

Cosmic Bunny attempted to contest the point using Doctor Strange's ultimate and Scarlet Witch's abilities but failed to sustain control under the opposing DPS pressure.

The synergy and consistent DPS pressure from 2SS led to a 2-0 series victory, and Shark was recognized as the MVP for their performance.

The Brind the Chala Domination map is described as having enclosed choke points at the start, transitioning into an open middle area that makes it a chaotic environment.

Last Pick Disadvantage (LPD) initiated the ban phase by removing Bucky, noting his strength in the open middle ground due to his ultimate.

Fossil F responded by banning Spider-Man to mitigate the risk of instant eliminations facilitated by his mobility in the open map.

Captain America was selected as a versatile hero, capable of adapting to various team strategies in the current meta.

Storm proved to be a significant threat, forcing the opposing team to expend ultimates to counter her utilities.

The sniper duo of K and Fee applied relentless pressure on Fossil F’s backline, allowing LPD to push the objective past the halfway point.

Fossil F struggled to regroup against this pressure, as their backline players were frequently picked off while trying to establish a defensive presence.

The tournament environment, which often involves the banning of main heroes, tests player versatility and their ability to adapt to different roles.

This dynamic highlights the importance of comprehensive hero pools, especially in a tournament featuring players across various skill and rank ranges.

Team synergy and the ability to cover for teammates when a primary hero is unavailable become more critical than individual raw skill in this format.

LPD's ban strategy focused on Mizuken’s comfort picks, such as Bucky and Iron Fist, to disrupt Fossil F’s preferred game plan and force them into less favorable compositions.

This move disrupted Fossil F's defensive formation as they struggled to protect their backline.

LPD maintained pressure, preventing Fossil F from regrouping and mounting an effective counter-attack.

The double dive strategy of Fossil F proved ineffective in shielding their backline once LPD initiated their offensive, leading to an ace for LPD.

LPD demonstrated superior snowballing capability, capitalizing on even slight misplays to gain advantages and build ultimate charges for subsequent fights.

Fossil Fuels struggled to counter LPD's relentless pressure, particularly due to constant target bans that limited their strategic options.

Commentators praised LPD's performance for its discipline and predatory nature, noting their ability to maintain constant pressure without giving opponents a chance to regroup.

Following a dominant performance, LPD advanced in the tournament bracket, showcasing a strong and consistent team dynamic throughout their match.

Only Jeff was noted as one of the most active teams in scrims over the past two weeks, suggesting a deep understanding of meta and potential for innovative strategies.

Simba, playing Lord Captain America for Only Jeff, created a formidable presence that commentators believed would be a significant factor in the match.

Commentators expressed excitement for potential non-standard drafts from Only Jeff, given their history of surprising compositions in previous scrims.

Doctor Strange was highlighted for his extensive utility and significant Area of Effect (AOE) capabilities, particularly with his Aamoto and portal plays.

Despite recent nerfs to the character, commentators were uncertain whether players would adapt to a new meta or continue to utilize Doctor Strange due to his inherent strengths.

Last Breath banned out Simba's Lord Captain America, indicating their fear of his impact, while Only Jeff banned Hulk, a less common pick in scrims but frequently banned in this tournament.

Hero successfully parried Namore's ultimate at a critical moment, turning a potentially devastating attack into an advantage for Only Jeff.

Commentators emphasized that Hero's precise reflexes significantly impacted the team's ability to hold their position and neutralize incoming threats.

Only Jeff quickly found their footing after an initial strong push from Last Breath, countering their ultimate abilities with their own strategic plays and securing the one-point push.

Commentators suggested Penny as a potential pick for Last Breath to control space.

They noted that Penny's viability is map-dependent.

The discussion included Hela and Hawkeye as alternative character options to consider against Only Jeff's team composition.

The commentators also considered Spider-Man as a counter-pick but concluded that he would be disadvantaged against Only Jeff's team composition, describing it as putting a Spider-Man with broken bones against the Sinister 6.

Last Breath initially held momentum, but Only Jeff effectively utilized high-damage ultimates, enabling them to push back and take control.

Only Jeff displayed superior team-fighting discipline under pressure, trading ultimate abilities efficiently and maintaining composure during critical moments.

Last Breath struggled to maintain their point control in the final overtime moments, despite having three ultimates ready, as Only Jeff's continuous pressure proved overwhelming.

Only Jeff won the series in game two by leveraging better sustain and positioning, preventing Last Breath from regrouping and executing their portal plays quickly enough.

The play significantly boosted Only Jeff's morale and broke Last Breath's fragile hold on the objective point, leading to a complete turnaround.

Casters highlighted Simba's role as the 'king of the jungle' due to his aggressive backline presence, constantly mowing down strategists who lacked healing support.

Last Breath failed to counter this pressure despite individual skill highlights from players like Brit, who managed to secure eliminations but could not stem the tide.

Last Breath's Brit output 15,000 damage, while Mr. Knight demonstrated resilience by tanking a total of 22,000 damage, highlighting individual efforts despite the team's loss.

Invisible Woman's persistent knock-backs were pivotal in denying Last Breath crucial positioning, effectively disrupting their attempts to contest objectives.

Tournament organizers confirmed that day two would feature the losers' bracket, where teams that did not advance today would face elimination matches starting at 4 PM GMT+8.
