Marxism: A Religion for Destructive Losers

Marxism is fundamentally a religion for destructive and resentful losers, rather than an economic theory. The Communist Manifesto, for example, employs spiritual rather than economic language, reflecting Karl Marx's view of his work as a 'spiritual war.' Its opening lines invoke a 'spectre' haunting Europe, setting a tone that aims not for equity but for the destruction of existing society.

This perspective argues that the true goal is not economic reform or redistribution, but the total annihilation of current societal structures, aligning with a spiritual, almost apocalyptic, vision rather than a practical economic plan.

The Communist Manifesto's vocabulary heavily emphasizes destructive actions, with a notable absence of positive affirmations. Words such as 'neighbor' or 'love' are entirely absent from its roughly 12,000 words, highlighting a focus on conflict rather than community. In contrast, terms like 'violent' and 'violence' appear seven times, 'overthrow' nine times, 'forced' and 'forcible' forty-seven times, and 'abolish' and 'abolition' sixty-one times.

Marx's ten proposed measures outlined in the Manifesto are consistently focused on seizures and confiscations, further reinforcing the document's emphasis on taking and destroying existing structures rather than building new ones based on collaboration or consensus.

Karl Marx articulated his program as the 'ruthless criticism of all that exists,' implying a comprehensive rejection of every current institution and idea. This philosophy suggests that everything in existence is inherently flawed and therefore 'worthy of perishing,' echoing a line from Goethe's Faust, spoken by Mephistopheles, the devil.

Marx's language throughout his writings is consistently totalizing, frequently using words like 'all' and 'everything' to convey an unsparing and complete destruction of the status quo, leaving no room for reform or preservation of existing elements.

Bertrand Russell, a socialist who visited Moscow in 1920, observed that the Bolsheviks behaved more like religious fanatics than political theorists, highlighting the ideological fervor inherent in the movement. Vladimir Lenin, for example, treated the writings of Marx and Engels as sacred scripture, guiding all aspects of the revolution.

In this framework, dialectical materialism takes the place of God, the proletariat is viewed as the 'elect' or chosen people, and the Communist Party functions as the church, guiding its followers. The ultimate Communist revolution is conceptualized as a 'second coming,' completing the theological parallels within Marxist ideology.

Despite Marxism being presented as a doctrine for the oppressed and downtrodden, many of its most prominent proponents have come from privileged backgrounds. Karl Marx himself originated from an upper-middle-class family, and his collaborator, Friedrich Engels, was a textile mill manager and financier, benefiting directly from the capitalist system they critiqued. This raises questions about the consistency between the ideology's stated aims and the personal circumstances of its architects.

The trend of elite origins extends beyond the founders to other revolutionary leaders. Vladimir Lenin was born into the nobility, and Leon Trotsky's father was a prosperous landowner, demonstrating comfortable upbringings that contrast with the working-class image often associated with the movement. This pattern suggests that the call for revolution often originates from those not experiencing the deepest forms of oppression.

Leaders of later Marxist revolutions also largely came from affluent families; Mao Zedong, Fidel Castro, and Che Guevara all hailed from comfortable or well-to-do backgrounds. This consistent pattern challenges the narrative that Marxist movements are primarily driven by the direct experience of economic hardship among the working class.
