China Acknowledges Deaths of Two Coast Guard Personnel
Jump to 0:04Nearly a year after a significant maritime incident near Scarborough Shoal, China has officially acknowledged the deaths of two Coast Guard personnel, E Shinyu and Ching Long. Their final mission was on August 11, 2025, the same day a Chinese Coast Guard cutter collided with a Chinese Navy destroyer while pursuing a Philippine patrol vessel. Official Chinese records indicate their deaths occurred during a “frontline maritime rights protection operation” in the South China Sea, and both men were later posthumously honored, bringing a human dimension to the incident.
