Opposition to the nominations of Yong Hye-in and Kim Seung-won by the Democratic Party is escalating into a 'Daejabo' poster campaign among the 2030 generation, intensifying political attacks between the ruling and opposition parties.
Regarding this coincidence, commentator Lee Jun-woo argued that it should be interpreted not as a simple coincidence but as an intentional political message. He analyzed that candidate Yong Hye-in, through this press conference, aimed to showcase her presence, similar to Assemblyman Jung Cheong-rae, and sought to gain attention alongside Chairman Lee Jae-myung as a strategic move.
Candidate Yong Hye-in appears to have judged that there is no practical benefit in resigning voluntarily given that the suspicions have already been fully disclosed to the public. Instead, it is analyzed that her intention is to permanently preserve her explanations in the National Assembly's verbatim records through the official stage of a parliamentary confirmation hearing.
Commentator Lee Jun-woo explained that since recorded content in verbatim records is preserved for research, there is a calculation to legitimize her explanations through this.
If the nomination of candidate Yong Hye-in is withdrawn, the Democratic Party would effectively admit to a failure in personnel verification. Consequently, criticism against those responsible for personnel verification would inevitably arise, and that responsibility is likely to fall on Secretary Kim Hyun-ji, a close aide to Chairman Lee Jae-myung.
Commentator Lee Jun-woo analyzed that if responsibility is shifted to Secretary Kim Hyun-ji, it ultimately imposes a direct political burden on Chairman Lee Jae-myung. The Democratic Party appears to be hesitant to withdraw Yong Hye-in's nomination to avoid such a chain of political risks. There is also an analysis that the Democratic Party is leaning towards pushing ahead with the confirmation hearing due to concerns that withdrawing the nomination could cause even greater repercussions.
Chairman Lee Jae-myung may have expected her to play a role in advocating for him, like Assemblyman Jung Seong-ho, but Yong Hye-in appeared to use Chairman Lee Jae-myung as a means to defend herself.
Commentator Lee Jun-woo criticized candidate Yong Hye-in for not responding rationally to reporters' questions and displaying an arrogant attitude. This attitude was criticized for potentially worsening negative public opinion.
In particular, it was analyzed that candidate Yong Hye-in's press conference today would be a decisive factor in further fueling this opposition.
While previous polls already showed high opposition, her remarks and attitude at the press conference were perceived negatively by the public, which is claimed to be an additional factor for an increase in opposition.
The posters featured phrases satirizing candidate Yong Hye-in's past remarks or containing critical content about Democratic Party officials.
In particular, various phrases like 'Stay still,' 'North Korea Empathy Expert,' 'Disciple Assault Expert,' 'Family Business Expert,' 'Presidential Indictment Withdrawal Expert,' 'Comment Manipulation Expert,' and 'Defector Exclusion Expert' criticized Democratic Party officials, pointing out their attitude of expecting the public to remain silent.
Commentator Lee Jun-woo explained that this poster campaign by the 2030 generation expresses not just criticism of specific individuals but dissatisfaction with the political establishment as a whole.
Opposition to Yong Hye-in's nomination is spreading nationwide, with posters appearing even in the Honam region, including Chonnam National University. Commentator Lee Jun-woo emphasized that the 2030 generation in the Honam region openly criticizing the Lee Jae-myung administration's appointments is a significant sign of public sentiment.
Despite this situation, the continued appearance of Democratic Party officials defending Yong Hye-in is criticized as ignoring public opinion. Lee commented that if the Democratic Party continues to defend the appointments, it will be unable to avoid criticism as a party that has abandoned the people.
Some also suggest the possibility of a strategy to make Yong Hye-in a scapegoat to save candidate Kim Seung-won.
The content of the Criminal Act amendment proposed by candidate Kim Seung-won on July 8th has become controversial. This amendment includes the provision that 'a person who handles the affairs of another shall not be considered to have committed a breach of trust if the decision was made for the public interest based on reasonable information.'
Commentator Lee Jun-woo analyzed that this amendment is an attempt to narrow the scope of application of the breach of trust offense and to establish an exception clause. This raises suspicions that it is intended to grant immunity for Chairman Lee Jae-myung's various judicial risks, such as those related to Daejang-dong and Baekhyeon-dong. Political controversy is expected to intensify given that the content of the bill could be closely linked to a specific politician's judicial risks.
When Assemblyman Jang Dong-hyuk demanded a clear answer regarding the president's re-election, the Blue House interpreted it as a constitutional restriction and answered on behalf of the president, which has become a political issue. Commentator Lee Jun-woo criticized this, calling it a trick by the Blue House to evade presidential responsibility.
Assemblyman Jang's inquiry intended to clearly state the president's re-election intentions to consolidate his support base. However, the Blue House's response method is analyzed to cause confusion among the ruling party's supporters and amplify calls for a responsible attitude from the president.
He thought very hard. He thought very hard, and later, when he extends his term, he'll say, 'I never did it.' Didn't an official in the Blue House just mention the constitutional provision I spoke of and interpret it as meaning he wouldn't seek re-election? Ask that person. Why are you questioning me? And so, I never said I wouldn't seek re-election.
Commentator Lee Jun-woo analyzed that the contents written on the right page of the notebook were messages aimed at consolidating the Democratic Party's faction.
This is interpreted as Assemblyman Kim Min-seok's intention to present a new political direction to rally and unite party members. On the left page, a list of Seoul mayoral candidates was noted, and Lee also suggested the possibility that the mention of 'Jung Cheong-rae for Seoul Mayor' was actually an alibi for Kim Min-seok's own political standing. By mentioning Assemblyman Jung Cheong-rae as a Seoul mayoral candidate, he aims to hide his intentions and simultaneously provoke competition among other party members, a multi-layered strategy.
This is analyzed as a political calculation that aims to capitalize on the fact that even if Jung Cheong-rae loses, there would be no alternative figure to shake up the party leadership.
Furthermore, Lee interpreted this as a strategy to pre-emptively block Assemblyman Jung Cheong-rae's position as a presidential contender. The intention is to remove him from the internal party competition by having him run in the Seoul mayoral election. If Assemblyman Jung Cheong-rae runs for Seoul mayor, significant changes are expected in the power structure within the Democratic Party, which could also affect the next presidential election landscape.
People Power Party lawmakers have continued Lee Jin-sook's offensive, relaying critical messages about Chairman Lee Jae-myung through SNS.
Commentator Lee Jun-woo analyzed that their strategy aims to reach centrist voters and the 2030 generation by satirizing and caricaturing messages such as 'Lee Jae-myung's trial resumes,' 'Lee Jae-myung guilty,' 'Lee Jae-myung out,' and 'Four years is too long for Lee Jae-myung.' This online relay debate is drawing public attention in a way different from traditional political discussions.
