Farage Blasts Labour's Plan to Cap Political Donations

John Cryer defended the legislation by referencing the Ryoff review, published in March, which recommended tackling foreign political donations. He clarified that the legislation was already progressing through Parliament when Philip Ryoff explicitly stated the existing bill required amendments to address foreign funding. Cryer's statement sought to ground the controversial bill in established recommendations rather than partisan targeting.

Farage insisted that individuals living abroad who donate to British political parties are not foreign, but British, if they intend to be involved in British politics. He argued that anyone seeking to play a role in British politics through donations should reside in the UK to ensure direct accountability and engagement. Cryer, in response, questioned the rationale of massive contributions from donors who do not live within the country they are influencing.
