Ellison Explains Merger Strategy for Market Leadership
Skydance CEO David Ellison indicated the $110 billion merger of Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery aims to position the combined entity as a leader across all operational verticals.
The merger unites major intellectual property franchises, including Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, the DC Universe, Mission Impossible, Top Gun Maverick, G.I. Joe, and Transformers, enhancing their competitive stance.
This consolidation would create a vast scale, encompassing over 200 million global streaming subscribers from HBO Max and Paramount+, along with Pluto TV's 80 million monthly active users and a robust sports package featuring NFL, MLB, NHL, UEFA, and PGA. Ellison also pointed to CBS as a strong anchor for the linear business, highlighting a 42% increase in NCIS performance.
