Democratic Party's Supreme Council in North Chungcheong... Orders Prosecution Reform

Supreme Council member Park Sung-won asserted that various inappropriate misrepresentations regarding Minister of Justice nominee Kim Seung-won are rampant, and their essence is the resurgence of the specter of politically motivated prosecution fabrication. He pointed out that the prosecution ignored circumstances indicating financial demands by public whistleblower Mr. Cho, and that partiality was evident in the prosecution's investigation process. Park Sung-won said, "Currently, all sorts of inappropriate misrepresentations regarding Minister of Justice nominee Kim Seung-won are rampant. The essence of this is the resurgence of the specter of politically motivated prosecution fabrication." He expressed doubt as to whether the prosecution had formed a prior relationship with Mr. Cho before starting the investigation.

Supreme Council member Park Sung-won expressed suspicion that public whistleblower Mr. Cho, having failed to achieve his desired financial recovery or investment return, might have formed a prior relationship with the People Power Party and reported it to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office. He criticized that there were indications that the prosecution used Mr. Cho as an investigative tool in this process. Park Sung-won raised the possibility that such an investigation might have a political motive targeting party leader Lee Jae-myung.

This is a 6.4% increase compared to the previous year. Floor leader Han emphasized the need to transform the 10 trillion won budget into tangible results that change the lives of the provincial residents and called for exploring ways to generate future achievements.

He expressed regret, stating that he found it unbelievable that a portrait of the incumbent president was used as a tool for a rally within the National Assembly. Floor leader Han also pointed out the National Assembly Secretariat's passive attitude and emphasized that responsibility must be held for such unconstitutional acts.

He expressed anticipation that such on-site visits would strengthen communication with the public and contribute to resolving livelihood issues.

He pointed out that dissatisfaction is increasing because discussions are proceeding in a direction where the Seongmu Airfield, used for practice and training, will remain in place. He expressed concern that the continued existence of Seongmu Airfield could hinder regional development in a situation where the number of Cheongju Airport users has surpassed 5 million, raising the need for runway expansion. Lawmaker Song requested active government support for resolving local issues, such as the creation of Osong K-Bio Square and the attraction of Seoul National University R&D facilities.

He reminded that F-35A stealth fighters are currently operating at the Cheongju base and criticized that such a claim is no different from asking Cheongju citizens to live with nuclear weapons above their heads. Lawmaker Song urged the withdrawal of the claim and condemned the act of increasing local residents' anxiety with irresponsible remarks.

He urged the Board of Audit and Inspection to at least transparently disclose the progress of the audit. Lawmaker Choi also promised the government's responsible response to the normalization of TBS and employment instability issues.

He emphasized that the Democratic Party will pursue prosecutorial reform with the goal of dismantling the prosecutorial cartel and preventing judicial suppression. Lawmaker Choi expressed the party's firm commitment to prosecutorial reform, stating that they will prepare model solutions for these issues and ask for support.

Lawmaker Seo Mi-hwa stated that only 26.4% of people with developmental disabilities are able to live independently, 46.2% of parents give up economic activities, and 29.6% experience mental health crises. She emphasized that the success of the national responsibility system depends not on the number of projects, but on how much the lives of people with developmental disabilities and their families actually change. Lawmaker Seo welcomed the government's plan to expand daytime activity services and 24-hour care but requested supplementation for the budget cut for the main project transition and the issue of the 5-year limit. She promised that the Democratic Party would firmly support and complete the national responsibility system through legislation and budget.

He defined such actions as unconstitutional and anti-democratic. Floor leader Han demanded accountability from lawmaker Lee Jin-sook and urged the Speaker of the National Assembly to take immediate action to uphold the dignity of the National Assembly.

He emphasized that the President is aware of public concerns regarding the enforcement decree, which calls for maintaining the number of prosecutors at 2,292. Lawmaker Lee mentioned the need to transition to a criminal legal system that aligns with the purpose of prosecutorial reform and promised to reorganize the prosecutorial system to meet public expectations. He explained that this directive will be an important opportunity to curb the prosecution's abuse of power and restore public trust.

Lawmaker Han pointed out that there is controversy over the scope of immunity under the Public Interest Whistleblower Protection Act and the legality of data disclosure. He emphasized that if lawmaker Han Dong-hoon illegally obtained and disclosed data under the guise of a public interest report, it would be a serious problem. He further expressed concern that such actions could undermine the political neutrality of the prosecution and public trust in the judicial system.

He emphasized that the Democratic Party holds regional on-site meetings more than twice a week, showing a busy but fast-moving leadership. Lawmaker Kim expressed his expectation that these regional巡回 meetings would play an important role in directly examining local issues, listening to residents' voices, and reflecting them in national affairs.

He explained that France's perception, which previously did not consider Korea a meaningful partner, has changed in all areas, including AI, semiconductors, defense, security, space, nuclear power, and culture. Lawmaker Kim emphasized the importance of independent diplomacy to increase Korea's autonomous influence in preparation for the reduction of American hegemonic influence. He specifically mentioned the strengthening of cultural solidarity through the 'Lumière Partnership' in the film industry as an important achievement in Korea-France relations.

He stated that he would verify whether local government policies and budget formulations align with the party's direction. Lawmaker Kim also announced that he would strictly verify the ethics of public officials, including budget use, to strengthen official discipline. He emphasized that as a responsible party that launched many local governments, the Democratic Party would fulfill its responsibilities.
