French Government Debt Yields Higher Than Corporate Bonds
Investors are currently preferring to lend to major corporations like L'Oreal, LVMH, and Sanofi rather than the French Republic, highlighting a significant shift in market perception.
Companies with a Triple-B credit rating can now borrow money more cheaply than the French government, while Italy and Greece, historically viewed as higher-risk borrowers, are also securing funds at lower rates than France. Bloomberg data indicates that 25 billion euros of French corporate bonds now trade at lower yields than French government debt.
