Exports Nearing $1 Trillion…Driven by K-Beauty and AI Semiconductors

Korea has already surpassed last year's total exports in just eight months this year, and at the current pace, achieving $1 trillion within the year is highly probable.

Korea has emerged as the world's second-largest exporter of cosmetics, following France. This is a significant rise from being 5th or 6th three years ago, surpassing powerhouses like the United States, Japan, and Germany.

APR's sales composition is 75-80% cosmetics and 20-25% devices. The US and Europe, in particular, have relatively less developed dermatological procedure infrastructure, leading to high growth potential for the home-use beauty device market.

This growth of K-Beauty is supported by the technological prowess of the Korean ODM industry and the institutional support of the government.

The government provides information on complex certification systems and agencies by country using generative AI based on HS codes. It plans to support overseas expansion by connecting professional consulting services, supporting export voucher costs, and expanding overseas joint logistics centers exclusively for SMEs in linkage with KOTRA.
