Japan and Australia Expand Defense Cooperation
Jump to 5:45Japan's Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi and Australian Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles formalized a new defense agreement on August 18. This landmark deal permits Japan to utilize Australian missile ranges for testing, including advanced hypersonic weapons, over the next decade. Additionally, both nations announced 'Boke Book,' a collaborative project focused on high-energy laser technology.
If the Japan Self-Defense Forces are able to conduct self up to test launches of standoff missiles such as hypersonic missiles in Australia, it would be a groundbreaking development.
