Geologists believe this volume could potentially be recoverable, with the geological success probability currently estimated at 24%, an increase from 18%. Resource estimates for Halcon range from a low of 1.7 trillion to a high of 22.6 trillion cubic feet.

Service contract 80 involves Tetrogen Energy and Sonda Energy, each holding a 37.5% interest, while PXP Energy holds 12.5%. The area has a history of gas discoveries, with previous drilling finding gas at Dabakan, Palandang, and Babendil.
