Tools such as tariffs, subsidies, strategic stockpiling, and export restrictions are considered legitimate means to manage and mitigate these risks effectively.

Former President Trump's strategy of fighting numerous trade wars simultaneously, sometimes hundreds, is deemed counterproductive. This widespread imposition of tariffs often targets allies, which significantly undermines the singular, necessary trade war against China.

The current method of engaging in multiple, unfocused trade disputes is explicitly labeled as the wrong approach, as it detracts from and weakens the focused effort needed to address specific economic challenges posed by China.

Economists have historically failed to adequately account for the significant costs associated with geographically concentrated production, particularly when such concentration occurs in countries like China. This oversight has left global supply chains vulnerable to geopolitical pressures and disruptions.
