Appeal court imposes 200,000 won fine despite Jung Cheon-su's recanted testimony; NewTamSa announces Supreme Court appeal

In the appeal trial for the TheTamSa assault case that occurred in 2023, unlike the first instance's acquittal, a fine of 200,000 won was imposed. The host questioned why other defendants received reduced sentences or mitigated charges while he alone was fined.

The first instance judge asked Mr. Jung Cheon-su why his statements kept changing, and Mr. Jung Cheon-su replied that after watching the video, he came to believe he had been subjected to such actions. Consequently, the first instance judge ruled for acquittal due to the lack of consistency in his statements.

Just before the second instance ruling, Mr. Jung Cheon-su submitted a petition for severe punishment to the court. This petition included content that had already been proven false in the first instance trial.

The host believes this petition influenced the second instance court's judgment and criticized the fact that content, whose credibility was already denied in the first instance, was again reflected in the ruling.

The second instance court, while imposing a fine of 200,000 won, acknowledged that the act was a 'defensive action' taken to prevent Mr. Jung Cheon-su from exerting physical force against a woman.

The host mentioned that the action to deter Mr. Jung Cheon-su, who had actually assaulted and injured a female staff member of TheTamSa, was considered defensive.

NewTamSa announced its intention to appeal to the Supreme Court, refusing to accept this appellate ruling. The host emphasized that they already have sufficient evidence to prove Mr. Jung Cheon-su's lies.

However, he pointed out that such a procedure was not carried out at all during this second instance trial, stating that this is a clear ground for appeal. He expressed confidence that if legal principles and conscience are alive, the Supreme Court will surely issue a remand.

The host reminded that Mr. Jung Cheon-su had stated in his first instance witness testimony, 'I wasn't injured physically, but my feelings were hurt.' This statement, he explained, played a decisive role in the first instance judge's acquittal on joint assault charges.

However, Mr. Jung Cheon-su has been claiming in broadcasts and petitions for severe punishment as if he was 'beaten to death,' which again criticizes the inconsistency of his testimony and statements. He emphasized that the actual physical harm was suffered by the female staff member assaulted by Mr. Jung Cheon-su.
