Unrealistic Depictions of Meteorite Impact in Movies
In reality, large meteorites cause massive destruction and fires, and movies ignore the physical laws where fragments and sandstorms devastate the surrounding area. A large meteorite should become a fireball, causing widespread destruction, and fragments and sandstorms should lay waste to the surroundings.
In movies, buildings next to the impact site remain intact two weeks after a meteorite falls, but in reality, large meteorites fall as fireballs, causing massive destruction and fires, and the tremendous fragments and sandstorms generated upon impact devastate the surrounding area.
