Yeo Hyeon-jeong Faces Disqualification from Election Amidst Democratic Party's Indifference

Pastor Choi Jae-young is considered a figure who played a significant role in accelerating the downfall of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration through the Dior affair. He is currently on trial, but it is pointed out that the Democratic Party shows no interest in the situation of such a key figure in an important case. Representative Yeo Hyeon-jeong criticized that many, including Pastor Choi Jae-young, are facing trial for fighting against the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, yet the Democratic Party is ignoring them.

Representative Yeo Hyeon-jeong stated that the judiciary's and prosecution's actions against her feel like electoral interference, and she lamented that this also thwarted her candidacy for county chief. She claimed that the judiciary, prosecution, and even the media are colluding to end her political career. In particular, depending on the outcome of the appellate court's final hearing scheduled for 4 PM on August 21, there is a high possibility that she will face the significant crisis of being disqualified from running for election.

The host emphasized that special sacrifices in the Honam region should be met with special compensation, and mentioned Representative Yeo Hyeon-jeong's case. Representative Yeo endured a difficult hunger strike to inform the public about the Yangpyeong Expressway Gate during the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, demonstrating special sacrifice. Nevertheless, the Democratic Party's neglect and indifference towards a representative who achieved such results is criticized as a failure to fulfill the responsibilities the party should remember. Council member Lee Sook-ja raised suspicions of corruption regarding local power brokers and city subsidies, and was then suspended from party membership for six months for violating dignity rules due to excessive data requests. It is argued that this effectively led to a cut-off, resulting in the exclusion of influential local figures. These series of actions are diagnosed as having occurred in the process of creating a party to ensure the re-election of former Supreme Council member Jeong Cheong-rae, intensifying concerns about the democratic operation of the party.
