Farage: Britain a 'Soft Touch' for Terror Threats

Nigel Farage indicated he was not surprised by the suspected bomb plot at RAF Fairford, stating he had argued and warned for years that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its subordinate groups operating in the UK should have been proscribed.

He claimed to have previously alerted the Home Secretary about Iranian operatives allegedly using small boats to enter Britain and cited intelligence reports indicating Iranian nationals in the UK were being monitored for potential bomb plots, with the US President reportedly aware of the threat in advance.

Farage criticized the previous Conservative government for granting asylum to an individual reportedly linked to the leader of Hamas, expressing concern that such decisions exacerbate security risks.

He contended that 'safe routes' for asylum automatically lead to family reunification, which he believes increases the potential for security threats, further arguing that certain countries inherently pose higher risks of violence and terrorism than others.

He predicted that the costs for a national care service would escalate dramatically, likening it to 'HS2 on steroids,' and voiced a lack of confidence in any government's ability to implement such a system without imposing substantial tax increases.

Blair-era governance prioritized arm's-length bodies over direct accountability, a structure the politician pointed to as the primary source of current bureaucratic failures.

He criticized devolved institutions, particularly in Scotland, for creating quangos that further exemplify this lack of accountability, referring to the current governance structure as 'Blair's Britain' writ large, and called for constitutional changes to ensure agency leaders are directly accountable to voters.

These arrests follow claims by Nigel Farage regarding potential links between the IRGC and migrant channels, with Farage having spoken previously about these concerns.

The Iranian embassy in Britain issued a statement online categorically rejecting and condemning what it described as 'unfounded and malicious speculation' attempting to link Iran to the arrests, labeling the allegations as 'Iranophobia' and threatening legal action, while counter-terrorism police have described the investigation as 'hugely complex'.

The host noted parallels between the current investigation and the Salisbury Skripal poisoning case, although significant differences remain, as there is currently no confirmed link to a foreign state actor, unlike the Skripal incident where Russian nationals operating for the GRU were identified.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Vicky Evans requested that police be given space to conduct their investigation without undue speculation, especially given that 85 local residents had to be evacuated due to the disruption caused by the security operation.
