Controversy is growing over the public disclosure of a memo containing potential candidates for the next Seoul mayor in Representative Kim Min-seok's notebook, as former Representative Jeong Cheong-rae expressed displeasure.
A memo listing potential candidates for the next Seoul mayor was photographed from Representative Kim Min-seok's notebook, and its contents were revealed. The memo included names such as Kang Hoon-sik, Woo Won-sik, Jeong Cheong-rae, Jeong Won-ho, and Ko Min-jung. These are primarily National Assembly members with high recognition in the Seoul area.
This reaction drew criticism for being contrary to the spirit of prioritizing the party over oneself. Suspicions also arose that it might be due to a lack of confidence in the verification process.
The president's term is clearly limited to a single five-year term by the Constitution. This statement is interpreted as a reconfirmation of his intention not to seek re-election.
During the first search in March, the governor's office was excluded, raising suspicions, and this current search seems to have reignited the investigation. Governor Jang Se-il is known to be a special advisor to former Representative Jeong Cheong-rae.
It is suspected that Governor Jang decided not to attend the event when New Tam Sa's reporters became aware of this fact. These circumstances suggest that Governor Jang, as a close aide to former Representative Jeong Cheong-rae, had been providing systematic support.
