Judge Tosses 9/11 Confession, CBC Bans 'Terrorist' Label

The judge determined that the confession was not voluntary, tainted by CIA psychological conditioning and coercion, including waterboarding, which occurred before Mohammed came into U.S. custody. Furthermore, the FBI failed to provide him with Miranda rights, which protect individuals from self-incrimination.

This decision represents a significant setback for prosecutors, who had identified Mohammed's statements as critical evidence in the case. The ruling underscores long-standing controversies surrounding the treatment of high-value detainees and the admissibility of evidence obtained under duress. The legal battle over Mohammed's trial has been protracted, with proceedings extending over two decades since his capture.

This institution is modeled after prestigious academies like West Point and Annapolis, aiming to provide specialized training for the next generation of space professionals.

The academy's curriculum is expected to focus on preparing cadets for future challenges in space, including lunar missions and other strategic objectives, as the U.S. continues to expand its presence and capabilities in the space domain.

Despite his disappointment, Crawford reaffirmed his confidence in Mohammed's role as the ringleader of the 9/11 attacks.

The Congressman also mentioned his concerns about the ruling's potential impact on the families of the victims, who have long sought justice and closure. The sentiment reflects the broader public and political sensitivity surrounding the 9/11 trials and the desire for accountability for those responsible for the attacks.

This location was specifically chosen to honor the heroes of Flight 93, whose actions prevented a further attack on 9/11. The families of those who died aboard Flight 93 prefer the term 'heroes' over 'victims,' a perspective the committee acknowledges and respects.

The hearing aims to transcend partisan politics, focusing instead on the shared national memory and the courage displayed on that day. By holding the event at such a poignant site, the committee hopes to foster unity and reflect on the lessons learned from the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

This move reflects broader concerns about the transparency and accountability of U.S. investments in international organizations.

Despite the support for cutting ties with UNRWA, questions persist regarding the overall value and effectiveness of the U.S.'s financial contributions to the United Nations as a whole. Critics suggest a need for a comprehensive review of U.S. engagement with various UN arms to ensure alignment with national interests and ethical standards.

Kmensky asserted that Russia's ultimate goal is to rival the U.S. and China in global influence. However, he deemed Russia's desire for territorial expansion unrealistic and unachievable, highlighting the historical futility of such endeavors against sovereign nations.

Ambassador Vlad Kmensky drew parallels between Russia's current ambitions and the historical collapse of past empires, including the Spanish, French, British, and Ottoman empires. He suggested that Russia is currently undergoing a similar process, where the ability to hold onto territories and countries unwilling to be under its rule is diminishing. Kmensky believes it is time for Russia to recognize this historical pattern.

He emphasized that imposing control over populations that reject it is historically impossible, citing numerous examples of failed imperial rule. Specifically, he mentioned uprisings in East Germany, Hungary, and Czechoslovakia as proof of the Soviet Union's inability to maintain control over unwilling populations, underscoring the enduring power of self-determination.

Ambassador Kmensky noted that these drones provide warnings, and Moldova hopes Russia will act rationally and not extend the war to other countries. Beyond physical incursions, Russia engages in extensive disinformation and propaganda efforts, aiming to destabilize Moldova and turn it into a geopolitical foothold.

Russia is characterized as primarily interested in geopolitical objectives rather than the well-being of the local population. This approach suggests a transactional view of Moldova, where its strategic location is prioritized over the sovereignty and prosperity of its people. The ambassador highlighted the constant threat and the need for international support to counter these multifaceted attacks on Moldova's independence.

Warren Canella of the Toronto Sun brought this memo to light this week. The memo reportedly suggested describing the events of 9/11 as 'hijacked planes that resulted in plane crashes' instead.

This instruction has sparked widespread criticism, with many accusing the CBC of attempting to sanitize historical events and downplay the nature of the attacks. Critics argue that such guidance distorts the reality of 9/11 and disrespects the victims and the collective memory of the event.

Critics argue that the CBC's new guidelines regarding 9/11 terminology represent a significant ideological shift within Canadian media, contrasting sharply with Canada's historical response to the attacks. Following 9/11, Canada demonstrated strong solidarity with the United States, passing its own anti-terrorism laws in response to the global threat. This response included widespread public support and practical aid.

The town of Gander, Newfoundland, became a symbol of this solidarity, with residents famously opening their homes and providing extensive assistance to thousands of Americans displaced when air traffic was grounded. This historical context highlights Canada's active role and empathy during a time of crisis. Therefore, the CBC's recent internal memo is seen by some as undermining this history and shifting away from a clear acknowledgment of the terrorist nature of the 9/11 attacks.

The incident originated from a satirical Facebook page that posted a claim alleging white servers at Texas Roadhouse were contaminating the food of black customers. Despite being clearly labeled as satire and intended as a joke, many online users misinterpreted the post as factual.

This misinterpretation led to widespread outrage and calls for a boycott of Texas Roadhouse, causing significant reputational damage before the claim was thoroughly debunked. An investigation, including confirmation by Snopes, revealed that the entire narrative was fabricated, underscoring the public's susceptibility to sensational and unverified information shared on social media platforms.

In discussions about public backlash and 'cancel culture,' Libby Emmens suggested that brands and individuals facing public condemnation should adopt a strategy of resilience rather than immediate apology. She advised against apologizing, encouraging them to 'power through' the criticism. This perspective argues that giving in to public pressure, particularly from what she described as 'the mob,' often emboldens critics rather than appeasing them.

This advice comes in the context of recent incidents where companies like Callaway, after initially approving an advertisement, later withdrew their support due to public outcry. The guest's recommendation implies that a firm stance, even in the face of widespread criticism, can be a more effective long-term strategy for maintaining brand integrity and avoiding a cycle of concessions.

The U.S. is pursuing a long-term vision to establish itself as the leader in global oil markets, aiming for American energy dominance and moving away from its dependence on the OPEC cartel. This strategic shift involves reducing reliance on foreign oil sources and increasing domestic production and influence. The overarching goal is to cripple OPEC's market power and diminish Chinese influence in key oil-producing regions.

Part of this strategy includes a proposed deal with Venezuela, which could allow the U.S. to replace its Canadian oil imports with heavy crude from Venezuela. This move is designed not only to secure a diversified and reliable supply of crude oil but also to reassert U.S. geopolitical leverage in the energy sector. By fostering energy independence and shaping global oil dynamics, the U.S. seeks to enhance its national security and economic stability.

While Canada sends approximately 4 million barrels of crude per day to the U.S., it relies heavily on the U.S. for refined products like gasoline in return.

This interdependence means that if Canada were to shut down its crude pipeline, it would simultaneously cut off its own supply of essential refined fuels. Therefore, such a move would be economically self-defeating for Canada. The U.S. also has potential alternative suppliers for heavy crude, such as Venezuela, which further diminishes Canada's leverage in energy trade dynamics.

She acknowledged that while political campaigns generally aim to generate voter excitement, Black voters often prioritize tangible outcomes and practical considerations when casting their ballots. This perspective suggests a focus on policy impacts and real-world benefits over emotional appeals.

Hosts of the discussion implied that the Democratic Party in Texas faces a broader 'excitement problem' across various demographics, not just among Black voters. They also dismissed the significance of August polling data regarding midterm election turnout, suggesting that early indicators might not accurately reflect later voter enthusiasm or engagement. This discussion highlights the complexities of mobilizing voters and the differing motivations that drive participation in elections.

This revelation contradicts prior testimony from FBI Director Christopher Wray, who had previously indicated otherwise. The investigations reportedly followed an internal FBI memo that controversially targeted attendees of Latin Mass as potential extremist threats.

This development has fueled concerns about the weaponization of federal agencies and potential abuses of power. The host described the broader situation as a symptom of a deeply corrupted justice system, suggesting systemic issues within the FBI's operations and its oversight. The new documents reignite debates about government surveillance, religious freedom, and the accountability of federal law enforcement.
