Both head coaches had spoken very positively about each other at their pre-match press conferences, and the second place in Group D was at stake.

Arzani had Souttar's experience alongside him, with defensive midfielders O'Neill and Irvine in front of the back line.

The commentator singled out the midfield's stamina and combativeness, saying the players were ready to push forward and do the dirty work in front of the defence.

Jordan Bos was highlighted as being in good scoring form for his country.

He had scored three goals in his last six internationals for Australia.

Both teams had created only half-chances in the opening stages, and neither side had the quality to seriously test the goalkeeper.

Irankunda went down in the box after contact, and the Australian fans loudly demanded a penalty while the referee waved play on.

The commentator said the appeal was rightly rejected, noting that Irankunda had tried to get his leg in to provoke the contact.

Under pressure from Julio Enciso, Australian keeper Beach misjudged a backpass and completely fumbled the ball.

Enciso took the ball with wonderful technique and ran into a sea of Australian bodies.

Enciso cut in from the left, desperately trying to get onto his right foot near the edge of the box.

An Australian defender blocked the attempt, and his next shot went wide of the right post.

Bos found the small gap between two Paraguayan defenders and had an excellent chance to score for Australia.

The commentator praised Bos as perhaps the most determined player on the pitch in trying to create against the opponent.
