Baku's Role in New Global Climate Finance Targets
Countries at COP 29 established a new global climate finance goal, aiming for $300 billion annually by 2035. The agreement also includes a broader objective to scale total climate finance from both public and private sources to at least $1.3 trillion per year by the same deadline. To achieve these targets, the Baku-Tbilisi roadmap has been created to operationalize these significant financial flows, shifting the focus from mere promises made in negotiation rooms to the implementation of practical projects.
Simon Stiell stated, "At COP 29, countries agreed a new global climate finance goal of $300 billion a year by 2035 and called on all actors to work together to scale up climate finance from public and private sources to at least $1.3 trillion a year by 2035."
