Visualizing Time in Billions and Trillions of Seconds
The concept of a trillion can be difficult to grasp, so a discussion began with visualizing time in seconds. A billion seconds is approximately 31 to 32 years, meaning that a healthy person living a full life might experience around 3 billion seconds, which equates to roughly 93 to 95 years.
Neil deGrasse Tyson explains that a trillion seconds is a thousand times larger than a billion seconds. This immense duration corresponds to 31,000 years, a period so vast that it dates back to when cave dwellers were drawing on cave walls.
