People Power Party's Criticism of Satellite Parties: 'The Pot Calling the Kettle Black'

Channel Newtamsa pointed out that it is incomprehensible that the People Power Party defines and attacks this system as the root of all evil.

This attack is considered an example that starkly shows what kind of group the People Power Party is. It is analyzed that the People Power Party distorts the essence of the system by claiming that the semi-linked proportional representation system is the fundamental cause of the controversy involving a specific individual.

It is argued that satellite parties began when the People Power Party (then a conservative party), such as the Pro-Park Geun-hye Alliance, created them first, and the Democratic Party was forced to adopt satellite parties. The progressive camp demanded a fully linked proportional representation system, but due to the People Power Party's opposition, only half of it was reflected in the current semi-linked proportional representation system.

The People Power Party's claim to attack the proportional representation system and return to the past is interpreted as an intention for the two major parties to divide seats among themselves, completely unrelated to public sentiment. Such behavior can be seen as an attempt to disregard the diversity of public sentiment and entrench a political structure centered on the two major parties.

Furthermore, some of the current chief spokespersons of the People Power Party are precisely these individuals who came from satellite parties.

This situation is analyzed as the People Power Party exhibiting contradictory behavior: criticizing satellite parties while actually appointing their members to key party positions. This dualistic attitude of criticizing the responsibility for creating satellite parties and the problems of the system while utilizing its products can become controversial.
