OpenAI Teams Use ChatGPT Sites Daily

By eliminating the need for manual API key management, the update allows anyone to visit a site and use their connected plugins to view personalized data, according to OpenAI.

This capability eliminates the need for manual API key management for individual team members, simplifying the process of working with sensitive data across various integrations like Slack and Notion.

OpenAI has been using Sites internally for over a year, indicating its integral role in daily operations before its public launch two months ago.

Every slide presented during the OpenAI Dev Day keynote was generated using ChatGPT Sites, demonstrating its capability for high-stakes presentations.

The incident command site tracks timelines and links to necessary runbooks, pulling data from Slack and Notion to keep product managers informed, as noted in the platform's overview.

The site automatically identifies team membership, displaying relevant Slack channels and content to keep product managers informed without burdening engineering teams.

It tracks incident timelines and provides direct links to necessary runbooks, eliminating the need for manual status updates and ensuring rapid response.

This system enables product managers to stay updated on critical incidents without interrupting the engineering team, fostering more efficient communication and problem-solving.

Shared sites display content tailored to the individual viewer's team and identity, meaning different teams at OpenAI see varying content from the same shared site.

This feature eliminates the need for users to manually manage API keys, simplifying secure access to sensitive data across a wide range of integrations.

Commonly used integrations include Slack, Notion, Google Drive, and Google Calendar, with the platform currently supporting approximately 60 different integrations.

Ranging from simple prototypes to complex software, the platform supports D1 database and R2 bucket infrastructure to accommodate evolving team requirements.

The platform offers deep customization capabilities and includes infrastructure features such as D1 database support and R2 buckets, allowing for robust and flexible development.

Sites functions as a comprehensive infrastructure layer, addressing the 'last mile' problem by seamlessly moving local code into live environments.

Beyond simple website deployment, users leverage Sites for hosting plugins, managing data, running evaluations, and supporting the recently announced Model Context Protocol (MCP).

Beyond building websites, the tool serves as a feedback loop where developers recycle components into new projects, functioning effectively as underlying infrastructure.

This dual functionality fosters a virtuous cycle where components built within Sites can be recycled and integrated into new sites, enhancing efficiency and innovation.

Kath Korevec developed a site to reclaim control over her Spotify playlist, which was frequently overridden by her children's music choices.

The site utilizes Reddit to track trending music and user voting, feeding this data into an automated system.

An automation runs every Monday at 8 a.m. to compile and update a new discovery playlist, ensuring fresh, personalized music.

The system employs 'computer use' to interact with Spotify and reference local Apple Music files, creating a custom music experience.

Integrating various assets—with potential future support for dots—facilitates the creation of interactive, user-generated games within the URL-based platform.

Kath Korevec created a 'user-created dungeon crawler' game on the platform, enabling players to customize characters and share their creations.

The platform supports the integration of various assets and anticipates future support for advanced elements like 'dots', enhancing game development possibilities.

Kath Korevec demonstrated a skill called 'Dungeon Site', designed to help users build interactive rooms within a game environment.

The tool enables users to define room dimensions, player parameters, and control schemes, instructing the AI via Astra to set specific environments such as moon surfaces or volcanoes.

Korevec used the 'Dungeon Site' tool to create a Stranger Things-themed dungeon room, with the AI independently generating features like a 'Hollow Moon' for the game map.

Users can choose to build isolated rooms or design open-ended structures that link to other dungeons, offering flexibility in game world creation.

The ability for Codex to build directly into a game experience signifies a novel UI/UX paradigm, shifting how users interact with applications.

Korevec compares the current workflow to managing development and interaction through separate browser windows, highlighting the inefficiency.

She views the distribution of skills to interact with apps as a transformative shift in software usage, moving towards more integrated and intuitive experiences.

Korevec tested OpenAI's 'Ultra Fast' tool by building a 3D room game set on a moon ship, featuring a 2x3 room and three 3D characters, including one named Pip.

The tool effectively translated text prompts, such as 'Pip needs bunk beds', into immediate visual changes within the game world, demonstrating rapid 3D environment generation.

OpenAI is exploring a 'site widget' that enables users to trigger AI inferences directly from within a game or site, moving beyond local building to dynamic app modification in a design mode.

The objective is to maintain a creator's 'flow state' by minimizing distractions from processing times, while carefully managing infrastructure to determine what resides in Sites versus cloud deployment.

Kath Korevec explained that historically, high technical and creative skill requirements prevented many from bringing their ideas to production, creating a significant barrier to entry.

New AI models have significantly reduced this barrier, enabling Korevec to build creative and fun projects that she has envisioned since childhood, such as a 'live sketch app' that transforms user drawings into various visuals.

The speed of these AI models is crucial, as it helps maintain creative momentum by allowing for rapid iteration and immediate feedback on ideas.

The collection showcases diverse projects, including a functional piano, a Hyderabad bus atlas, and various games, highlighting the versatility of the platform.

Prioritizing personal voice and identity, Kath Korevec warns against letting AI autonomously send emails or impersonate her during live demonstrations.

She is firm about preventing the AI from sending emails or messages on her behalf, prioritizing the protection of her personal voice and identity.

Korevec strongly warns against allowing AI to impersonate her in community forums, highlighting the need for clear boundaries and oversight in AI interactions.

The handle 'Simsoka' serves as the primary point of contact for Kath Korevec, who encourages community feedback and remains open to direct messages regarding the platform.
