DCH Regional, Northport, and Fayette Medical Centers in Alabama turned away non-critical patients and diverted ambulances after the October 1st, 2019, Ryuk ransomware breach, as noted in reports on the incident.
The digital outage forced hospitals to turn away non-critical patients, divert ambulances, and rely on manual paper-based systems for operations, severely disrupting healthcare services.
The cause was a strain of ransomware known as Ryuk, one that would ultimately end up claiming far more than just stolen files and data.
