Uber's Parisian Origins: From a Button-Push Idea to a Global Service
The concept for Uber originated in Paris in December 2008, sparked by co-founder Garrett Camp's desire for an on-demand ride with the push of a button. Initially, Camp envisioned purchasing 20 Mercedes S-Classes and hiring 40 drivers to establish a premium fleet. Kalanick, however, saw an opportunity to leverage existing cars more efficiently, shifting the focus from ownership to utilization.
