Lee County Sheriff's Office Intensifies Drug Enforcement
Sheriff Carmine Marceno highlighted a recent seizure of two kilos of fentanyl, a quantity he stated could potentially kill 1.8 million people. These operations have led to over 100 arrests and the seizure of 51 firearms, contributing to a decline in the overall crime rate within the county.
The increased resources allocated to the narcotics task force are credited with these outcomes, allowing for more proactive and effective intervention against drug-related crimes. The sheriff emphasized a dual approach: helping those addicted while incarcerating individuals involved in dealing illegal substances.
