The $200 Coding Subscription Value Proposition Has Collapsed
Just weeks ago, a $200 plan on a codec subscription would have provided up to $12,000 a month in inference, a figure that now seems significantly out of reach.
The original intent behind these plans was to offer what felt like unlimited usage, providing substantial value to developers.
However, as AI models have grown more capable and, consequently, more expensive, companies have been compelled to reduce their subsidization efforts.
OpenAI recently halved the usage calculation for its $200 plan, leading to a measured usage drop to about $570 per week, equating to roughly $2,000 a month.
