China-Japan Coast Guard Clash Escalates Near Senkaku

A recent confrontation in the East China Sea involving Chinese and Japanese coast guard vessels has heightened tensions near the Senkaku Islands. These disputed islands, known as Senkaku in Japan and Diaoyu in China, are also claimed by Taiwan and consist of five uninhabited islets and three rocky outcrops situated between Taiwan and Okinawa. This incident is part of a broader pattern of escalating friction in the region.
