Vishwamitra's Thousand-Year Penance Shaken by Indra's Scheme
In the Pushkar forest, Vishwamitra had been meditating with his eyes closed for 1,000 years, performing penance to become a great sage.
Indra, the king of the gods, filled with fear that he might lose his throne, sent Menaka, the most beautiful celestial dancer, to Earth. He ordered Menaka to distract the meditating rishi by any means necessary.
