On August 28, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to establish a new U.S. Space Academy, designed to cultivate future aerospace leaders. The academy's mission is to train engineers, scientists, and astronauts for the evolving space sector.

President Trump stated, "It'll serve both the United States Space Force as well as NASA and the civilian space flight industry, and it'll attract, train, and graduate the very, very best of our nation." The institution aims to support NASA, the U.S. Space Force, and the commercial space industry.

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman has been appointed chairman of the commission tasked with shaping the future of the newly established Space Academy. Isaacman's role involves developing recommendations on the academy's governance, location, and curriculum within 120 days.

Isaacman commented, "President Trump's vision for a new academy is a transformational step to educate the engineers, scientists, technicians, operators, and even the astronauts who will be necessary for the inspiring future we are pursuing in space." The vision for the academy includes advancements such as lunar base development and the integration of nuclear power in space technologies.

China is embarking on an ambitious project to develop a large-scale rocket manufacturing hub, dubbed "Rocket Star City," in Shanghai. A construction permit was issued in early August for a new logistics wharf, signaling the start of the project.

The Minhang district commercial space cluster, spanning 9.3 square kilometers, is targeting completion by early 2027, aiming to significantly boost China's space production capabilities.

The Shanghai space cluster has set aggressive production targets for rocket and satellite manufacturing. By 2027, the goal is to produce 80 rockets and 200 satellites annually.

The long-term objective is to further scale up production to 150 rockets and 500 satellites per year by 2030, positioning Shanghai as a major global player in space manufacturing.

To accommodate the large-scale production, Shanghai plans to transition rocket logistics from road transport to waterway transport. This shift will allow rockets to be shipped directly from Shanghai's manufacturing hub to coastal launch ports.

This change is anticipated to streamline operations and enhance efficiency, following the successful demonstration of maritime launch capabilities by Orian Space in July.
