Election Commission Faces Internal Rift and Allegations of Procedural Bias
An Indian Express report revealed internal divisions among Election Commissioners, with two commissioners alleging that the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) made authoritarian decisions and did not adhere to established rules.
These allegations raise serious questions about the integrity of the CEC and the electoral process, prompting concerns about fairness.
Further reports indicate widespread unfair inclusions and deletions from voter lists, alongside a technical failure of the ECI-Net software in Goa that led to the exclusion of approximately 97 eligible voters. Such flaws risk disenfranchising citizens and denying access to welfare schemes tied to voter registration.
