Labour Releases Hundreds of Prisoners Early Due to Overcrowding
Approximately 700 prisoners were released under the government's early release scheme on what was referred to as "freedom day."
Among those released were domestic abusers, thieves, and violent offenders, many having served only one-third of their sentences, a situation that prompted an interviewee from HMP Brixton to acknowledge that some should remain incarcerated.
