UK Faces Scrutiny Over Hospital Failures, Migrant Plans

Lady Justice Thirlwall emphasized: "It is for that reason that I make the recommendation that responsibility for auditing the implementation of the recommendations of statutory inquiries into NHS bodies should be given to the national audit office accompanied by an appropriate level of additional funding."

The goal is to ensure that concerns are properly investigated, not suppressed, and that management can no longer claim ignorance of the process. Lady Thirlwall emphasized that no manager should ever again be able to say they did not know what to do if a similar situation arises.

Sophie Reaper quoted Lady Thirlwall: "Never again Lady Thurwall says should a manager be able to say they did not know what to do. She says instead every single member of NHS staff... should all receive training so that if this kind of thing happens again... they know the escalation process."
