Expanding the Fleet with Larger Vessels for Sustained Operations
Jump to 6:48The Philippine Coast Guard is significantly expanding its fleet by acquiring larger vessels, including new Japanese-built patrol ships. These new additions are substantially larger than the Marine Protector-class boats transferred by Washington and the 35-meter craft ordered from France, providing greater endurance for extended maritime operations. The increased size allows for a sustained presence far from the Philippine mainland, enabling the PCG to enhance its capabilities in maritime law enforcement and search and rescue missions over broader areas.
