Johnson says Putin 'Hysterical' Amid Drone Attack Claims

Initial claims circulated that Johnson had to be evacuated at 5 a.m. due to security concerns stemming from the incident. Ukrainian officials have alleged that Moscow may have intentionally targeted the train.

He stated that he only learned about the incident after he had returned to the UK and started receiving messages. Johnson characterized the incident as potentially pointless or a mere coincidence, suggesting it might not have been a targeted attack against him.

Johnson claims that attacks on Ukrainian railways have surged significantly in the last six months compared to the previous four years. He interprets this as a pattern of increasingly 'hysterical' behavior from the Russian dictator, who he suggests is losing men at the front lines. The former Prime Minister described Russia's strategy as resorting to terroristic attacks aimed at railway passengers and staff, indicative of a desperate leader.

Johnson noted that the strike occurred near a stationary locomotive, away from the passenger cars, suggesting a broader pattern rather than a specific targeting of his train. He maintained that these attacks are symptomatic of a "crazed attempt" by Russia to bully the Ukrainian population into submission. Despite these continuous assaults, Johnson asserted that the Ukrainian people remain resilient and are ultimately destined to win the war.

Russia is now deploying new jet-powered 'Shahed' drones, which Johnson described as very fast and significantly harder for Ukraine to intercept. To counter these advanced threats, he emphasized Ukraine's urgent need for Patriot-style PAC-2 interceptors. Johnson also advocated for providing Ukraine with the seeker technology necessary for them to develop and manufacture their own interceptor missiles, fostering self-sufficiency.

Johnson highlighted that approximately $140 billion worth of Putin's gold is currently frozen in a Belgian bank account, with an additional $15 billion in Russian assets located in London. He questioned why these substantial funds are not being unfrozen and immediately allocated to Ukraine. Johnson strongly advocated for using these frozen assets to enable Ukraine to manufacture its own high-tech attack drones and cruise missiles, directly addressing their technological needs in the conflict.

He argued that this approach would demonstrate unwavering support for Ukraine and provide a practical means for them to defend themselves more effectively. The former Prime Minister stressed that while Western nations are providing aid, directly enabling Ukraine to produce its own advanced weaponry from seized Russian funds would be a game-changer. This move would also send a clear message to Russia about the consequences of its aggression, transforming frozen assets into a tangible resource for Ukrainian defense.

Johnson reiterated that this financial leverage is critical for Ukraine's long-term security and its ability to counter sophisticated Russian weaponry. He emphasized that the current aid, while helpful, needs to be supplemented by a more robust and sustainable funding mechanism for domestic production. Utilizing these assets would not only fund immediate defensive needs but also foster a stronger, more independent Ukrainian defense industry.

He concluded by asserting that the international community has a moral and strategic imperative to tap into these frozen funds, turning a dormant asset into an active weapon in Ukraine's fight for sovereignty. Johnson believes this action would be a decisive step in demonstrating concrete support and accelerating Ukraine's path to victory.

Boris Johnson criticized Labour's push to cap political donations, describing it as hypocritical given their significant reliance on funding from trade unions. He referenced similar sentiments previously expressed by Richard Tice on the show, highlighting what he perceives as a double standard in Labour's policy proposals. Johnson argued that Labour's substantial financial support from unions makes their call for donation caps inconsistent with their own practices.

He asserted that the government with the most credible plan to address these areas would ultimately prevail. Johnson specifically highlighted Kemi Badenoch as having the most credible plan for tackling welfare spending and strengthening defense. He also argued that high taxation is a primary cause of economic sluggishness, advocating for policies that promote economic growth through lower taxes and responsible spending. Furthermore, he characterized Reform UK as having a weak stance on both welfare and broader economic policy, positioning the Conservatives as the stronger alternative.

Concerns were raised about the long-term effectiveness of taxpayer funding for a conflict that appears to have no clear end in sight. The segment challenged the notion that Ukraine's membership in NATO is a realistic or widely supported possibility among European nations.

An argument was made that Western nations have provided just enough financial aid to sustain the war in Ukraine, but not enough to enable a decisive victory. Victor Orbán was cited as an early proponent of the view that without direct military intervention—specifically, putting troops on the ground—the war should not be prolonged indefinitely. The participants also discussed the political impossibility of deploying British troops directly into Ukraine, highlighting the domestic constraints on such a measure.

The hosts agreed with this sentiment, stating that taxpayers should not be compelled to fund political organizations. They emphasized the importance of parties demonstrating their value to the electorate to secure their position.
