"So this is one way we can use this indicator and that is we look for a breakout play or a move to the upside where we make a higher high in price. All right, we look for confirmation in the ADX to the upside and then we know we can watch for a pullback."

On the weekly chart, a failure of the red DI line to cross above the 25-mark signifies a lack of significant selling strength.

A significant drop in the ADX line during a price correction reflects a temporary decline rather than a full market reversal.

This pattern confirms that capital largely remains in the market despite temporary price pullbacks, indicating underlying stability.

"And if you notice what that caused, it caused the ADX line to drop off significantly. That's showing there's no strength in the sellers. No strength whatsoever in the selling strength."

Joe Rabil identifies a 'low ADX pattern' where the ADX line remains below 25 for an extended period, in one example lasting over a year.

This prolonged period often coincides with price consolidation, such as descending triangles or rectangular price formations.

During this phase, traders are advised to draw trendlines on the price action to define potential breakout zones.

"And that means we're we've we go low ADX for this whole period here. So it was about a year a little over a year where the ADX line stayed below 25."

A breakout from these established trendlines while the ADX is still low serves as a crucial trade signal, indicating potential new trend initiation.

JPMorgan shares climbed to a new high, yet the ADX failed to confirm this upward move by staying below the 25-level throughout three successive price pushes.

The stock experienced three successive pushes higher, but the ADX could not climb back above 25, indicating weakening internal strength.

Higher highs and higher lows in price without ADX confirmation demonstrate that a trend is losing momentum and approaching exhaustion.

"There's no sign of the ADX confirming. We confirmed on this leg, but then as it keeps pushing higher, we actually made three little pushes here... no real trend strength here, even though we're making higher highs and higher lows."

While April to July saw price highs supported by the ADX, the subsequent failure of the indicator to exceed 25 confirmed that the market lacked internal momentum.

While price reached new highs, the ADX failed to confirm this strength, remaining below the 25 level.

The market exhibited three distinct pushes higher without a corresponding increase in internal trend strength.

When price reaches higher highs but the ADX fails to climb back above 25, the market exhibits clear signs of trend exhaustion.

Traders can employ a price trendline break as a secondary confirmation to exit a position.

Monitoring the 18-period moving average is crucial; a crossover below the 40-period moving average provides another strong indication of a trend shift.

"We're drawing this trend line here, and we're waiting for it to break, and we're also waiting for break the 18. If you notice, the 18 is the trend line right here. We get a really nice signal to exit a trade if we're in it."
