Controversy Over Ministry of National Defense Spokesperson's Remarks Escalates Security Concerns

Criticism has been raised that Ministry of National Defense spokesperson Jung Bit-na's remarks are on a similar level of harsh language as former President Moon Jae-in's past statements. Commentator Lee Beom-seok likened Spokesperson Jung's remarks to Moon's past instance of asking a soldier, 'Is there anything you want to eat, like jjajangmyeon?' pointing out a lack of empathy. He strongly asserted that if a spokesperson made remarks of this level, they should resign immediately, criticizing the language as aggressive and failing to recognize the seriousness of the matter.

Commentator Lee Beom-seok revealed that when he served as an interpreting officer in the OPCON transfer promotion department, Representative Ahn Gyu-baek was the most bothersome person with the most questions and data requests. He explained that he handled OPCON-related tasks for three years, conducting over 350 consultations with the U.S. Lee interpreted Representative Ahn's actions as an attempt to accelerate OPCON transfer due to the Democratic Party's excessive ideology, expressing concern.

Commentator Lee Beom-seok pointed out that while discussions about merging the Korea Military Academy are possible, it is regrettable that there is no institutional way to stop it, given that the Democratic Party is currently the majority party in the assembly and the president is also from the Democratic Party. He strongly criticized the lack of public engagement and communication in this process, taking issue with the Ministry of National Defense's poor attitude and Representative Ahn Gyu-baek's questionable view of the nation. He expressed strong dissatisfaction, in particular, with the Defense Minister's absence from public hearings, with only the spokesperson responding.

Lee questioned whether the Democratic Party had ever considered the Korea Military Academy's contributions to the growth of the Republic of Korea. He emphasized the historical value and contributions of the Korea Military Academy to national security, strongly criticizing attempts to belittle it. He warned against the politicization of the security domain, stressing that defense policy must be based on realistic and rational judgment, not ideology.
