Internal Messages Expose ActBlue's Lax Verification Processes
Leaked Slack messages indicate that ActBlue staff knowingly approved donations flagged as foreign, bypassing robust verification protocols. Verification procedures were limited to checking character counts on passport numbers, rather than conducting thorough database validations. Donations originating from foreign IP addresses were frequently approved if other indicators, such as a LinkedIn profile, appeared normal to staff members, who cited such profiles as sufficient proof of donor identity.
