Robinhood as an ownership company
The episode opens with a description of prediction markets as a kind of news. Their odds show what is happening and what is likely to happen in the future. Tenev then asked what Robinhood is today, said that if he had to sum up the company in one word or idea, it would be ownership.
He said Robinhood is live in some form in over 120 countries, and argued that ownership matters at both individual and collective levels. For individuals, owning assets is a traditional route to financial freedom and wealth-building. For society, he said that one without broad ownership is inherently unstable, because people who own things become more invested in the outcome and become defenders of the system.
