The Forbidden Friendship Between Teacher and Student

She introduced herself to student Vova, saying, "Я ваша новая учительница по русскому языку и литературе. Меня зовут Татьяна Владимировна" ("I am your new Russian language and literature teacher, Tatyana Vladimirovna"), and demanded he improve his classroom behavior and clean the room.

Tatyana introduced herself to Vova as "I am Tatyana Vladimirovna, your new teacher of Russian language and literature," and reprimanded him for making noise in the hallway during class and for the unclean classroom.

He is aware that achieving this goal requires significant effort.

When the teacher asked Vova why he was cleaning the classroom after school, he replied that he enjoyed doing it.

Vova suggested to Tatyana Vladimirovna that she join him at the river he visits every Saturday.

Tatyana initially hesitated, worried about a private meeting with a student, but eventually went with Vova to the river. During their outing, they expressed concerns about societal judgment and their reputations.

Every Saturday, the boy spends time by the nearby river, watching butterflies and birds. Enjoying the river scenery, he invited the woman to join him for a walk.

The woman declined the boy's invitation, citing the burden of their student-teacher relationship.

When Vova was seen carrying Tatyana Vladimirovna's bag at school, his classmates interrogated them about their relationship.

One friend asked Vova, "That's the teacher's bag. Why are you carrying it?" Vova denied any private relationship and kept their secret.

The day's lesson topic was morphology and word formation, but the students' commotion prevented the class from progressing smoothly.

Tatyana Vladimirovna told the students, "Today's topic is morphology and word formation. Everyone, be quiet!" but she sent out Misha, who made disrespectful remarks, and other disruptive students.

Vova and Tatyana Vladimirovna spent time together during their private picnic.

They recognized that their relationship would be problematic if discovered by parents, friends, or fellow teachers. Feeling the precariousness of their bond, they considered ending their meetings.

Vova worried, "It will be difficult if my parents and friends find out."

Tatyana Vladimirovna also feared being ridiculed by her fellow teachers. Ultimately, they concluded that continuing their meetings was impossible due to societal scrutiny.

During a dictation class with her students, Misha made an inappropriate joke.

The teacher immediately sent Misha, who was provoking her, and the student who assisted him, out of the classroom.

Tatyana Vladimirovna was troubled by their age difference, herself being 24 and Vova 13. Tatyana pointed out the unique nature of their relationship, saying, "Our friendship is unusual, and you are not an ordinary child."

Vova struggled to accept the impending separation, arguing that age was not important.

However, due to Vova's family's decision to move to St. Petersburg, the two ultimately said goodbye.

Vova returned to Moscow many years after moving to St. Petersburg.

Upon his return, Vova learned that Tatyana Vladimirovna had already left the school. He recalled that the experience had inspired him to write his first song.
